Maybe she only thought she knew what she was doing. It's not just the 'lump of protoplasm" argument; women are told that having an abortion is the "responsible" thing to do, because it's not fair to bring an unwanted child into the world, because another baby will take too much time away from her other children, because it would be wrong to bring a disabled child into the world....The article doesn't say why she had the abortion; her reasons may have perfectly "respectable" in our death-driven society.
She is very different from Susan Smith and Andrea Yates,WHO SAW LIVING, BREATHING CHILDREN and killed them anyway. This woman, once she was confronted with the fact of a living child, tried to love and protect that child--very, very different.

Thats a good point, they really drive in how important it is for young mothers not to have children. That abortion is the right thing to do.. Afterall it would be cruel to have a child and not live in at least a 300,000$ home with two cars, and the trendy clothing for the kid.

They see it at school and on tv from the authority figures which they trust. So many people who aren't rabidly independent thinkers just follow what the authority figures tell them, without really thinking about it. This woman realized what she was doing was murder and tried to stop it, and now is making a big deal out of it to warn others.

Ultimately ignorance isn't an excuse, but I can see how someone could be tricked.

If only every attempt of abortion was wept for like that. This is the kind of thing people should be told. It's extremely painful, but it awakens the soul to what's happening.
