I belong to a very small Christian church. The majority of the members are very old. Because of the age and health of the members, we are unable to do much community ministry.

However, we are able to do what we can (twice a year rummage sale - excellent merchandise with cheap prices) and we donate food to other church run organizations to distribute as needed. Once a month we donate "jingle" offerings to a group that has an once a evening kitchen so no one needs to go to bed hungry. We do special collections for special needs. We adopt needy families at a local school for Thanksgiving and Christmas and meet their needs. We supply school supplies for needy children at that school.

We don't ask what religion the group giving the aid is or what religion the people receiving the aid are - we ask how much of our donations are going to the needy individuals.

We do what we can within the limits of our ability.

Your church is operating in the Spirit that Christ told us too. "What you have done to the least of these brethren you have done unto Me also." I think He smiles on your church with His favor and approval.

"we ask how much of our donations are going to the needy individuals."

I salute your charitable works and want to point out that the above question is a good one for ALL charities, not just religious ones.

The United Way, for example, only sends about 50% of your donations directly to the needy. The rest is used for overhead. That's just one example...
