Speaking of 'effective', this is the most effective endorsement for Bolton I've read so far ... Eagleburger is saying that Bolton has been there and done that already, more than qualified to take on the job:
"On Dec. 16, 1991, I spoke to the U.N. General Assembly on behalf of the United States, calling on the member states to repeal the odious Resolution 3379, which equated Zionism with racism. As I said then, the resolution "labeled as racist the national aspirations of the one people more victimized by racism than any other." That we were successful in obtaining repeal was largely due to John Bolton, who was then assistant secretary of state for international organizations. His moral outrage was clearly evident as he brilliantly led and managed the successful U.S. campaign to obtain sufficient votes for repeal. The final vote, 111 to 25, speaks volumes for the success of his "direct" style."
Bad John Bolton ... bad, bad, John.
Okay, he's been "dressed down" Papa Eagleburger. Now tell the moronic Republican monkeys to vote him in and let's get on to the next nomination.
It must have pained the WP terribly to print this...even on the opinion page. I agree with Mr. Eagleberger's assessment.
Bump
That is the last paragraph in the article and should be the last word on the integrity of John Bolton.
It is very clear that the opposition has little to back up their efforts to derail this nominee, in fact their antics are so transparent it is shameful. Americans are aware of what the opposition is up to and it will backfire as most Americans want OUT of the United Nations, not fix it. Those who have done their homework know John Bolton is the very man who can and will protect America from the skid-rowism now prevalent in that rogue organization. We need a spokesman who will hold that body to account for their fraud and miss handling of money; he will make sure that money spent goes where it is attend to go for the aid and good of needy countries.
To date less than 5% of the money sent to Tsunami victims has ever gotten to them in the form of aid other than medical. The rest is in some Swiss bank account of local politicians in the area.
The Boxer, Kerry, and Biden vitriolic, arrogant and self serving rhetoric addressed to Bolton is reminiscent of the 9/11 committees same arrogant abusive stance against anyone who dared to indicate that 9/11 belonged on the shoulders of the Clinton Administration. Jamie Gorelick should have been removed from that commission however, as a Democrat she was not. Had Jamie been a Republican she would have been removed, tarred and feathered and vilified by the MSM and the Democrats.
In short, the liberal/socialist Democrats dont want to upset the United Nations apple cart, they would rather have a wussy girlyman like Richard Holbrook than a MAN like John Bolton who can and has walked the walk. In diplomatic parlance, Bolton is a can do diplomat, wise and unafraid of the hooligans.
