Town torn over molester's suicide (plus my vanity as the victim of a violent crime)

It seems that some folks are reading what was intended by my comment.

My whole point, to say those who commit violence, like what happened to you, they can return to the community one day, I hope rehabilitated, oops nope there is no funding for that, so they leave a hardened criminal, and to the only life they knew before entering prison.

I wanted to say, is this who you would like to live next door? If so, fine, if not, should we not have access to find out, these are public trials, the names are not hidden, they can be found.

I do not think, I could ever trespass to another, especially if they did serve their time, but, I would pursue a neighborhood group meeting, to see what we can do as a collective. Until we make laws that do not allow such evil to return to society, we must find a way to rehabilitate and help them enter into the community.

If I was not clear enough, I am terribly sorry.

You've lived through a nightmare, and thank God, survived. Maybe with time the mental scars will fade, and we pray they will. I'm so glad you have dogs and take them with you everywhere. They're worth their weight in gold. That said and this has nothing to do with your situation except lingering fear, yesterday, my sister mentioned that she had an ear infection over the winter which had left her dizzy. She fell, didn't break anything, and now is fine -- no dizzinesss -- but she said the fear of falling won't go away. It's with her constantly. I could see this in the way she walked, hanging onto things, and, sadly, I couldn't suggest anything for her, either other than wearing running shoes with a good tread.

(Dear FMC, Don't let what happened take away your freedom, your spontanaiety, the essential you.) As you know, my little granddaughter was molested over a period of four or five years by the father of a schoolmate, who videotaped his crimes and sold the tapes on the internet. His trial was a few weeks ago, and my granddaughter, who'd gone to all the hearings, despite delays, despite intimidation from this man, went to court and said she'd testify aloud if she had to. But her letter to the judge convinced him that this wasn't necessary. The man got two ten year sentences to run consecutively, and yes, they'll probably parole him sooner or later, and he'll be out on the streets again. But maybe he'll die in jail first. We can hope and pray!

They're thinking about electronic ankle bracelets for sexual predators when they're let out on parole, but that won't stop them. Nothing works but prison for life or death.

First thank you for the kind words, friend. Your thoughts were part of what I was trying to say. I am an adult who met with violence. It changed me, but to think a child enduring even half of what happened to me well that is just evil.

I will keep your family in my prayers. Your grand daughter is very brave, please tell her she is thought of kindly and with pride.

The way the system is set up, well you are right, if he does not die while in prison he will again be able to breath the same free fresh air that you, your grand daughter and all of us breath.

Thank you again for adding your experince on the thread.

She does not believe this man deserved this sort of end at all. You may want to see her earlier thread on when this story first broke.

Criminals must come out of prison truly broken--not unlike how we are to come to Christ. For many, this does not now happen.

I don't have any problems with encouraging better with prisoners. Having been a part of prison ministries in the past, I know people from the outside can have a tremendous impact on resocializing such individuals.

We need to get the criminals to the point that when society finally welcomes them back, that they are treated in ways that respect both ourselves and them. It may mean keeping ourselves on alert but it may also mean befriending them.

It appears this man showed himself to a girl as she showed him back her own private areas. This is both sinful and illegal. But it is not the same a rape. Such a person, especially if he had been fine for more than a decade, is not someone with whom I would not associate. But then, I've let a man once convicted for murder and assaulting a half dozen police officers stay in my house. He had truly come to know Christ.

We are never perfect and must be on guard against everyone. Heck, one of the most common forms of assault - domestic abuse - comes from the very people we are closest to. But this does not mean people cannot be trusted. It merely means we must trust to the extent we can any fellow human. It has always been that way, though.

Once we grapple with the fallen nature of all of mankind, we can grow to know that this life was only ever meant to be temporary and to instead bring us closer to the one entity that can never hurt us and wants us more than we can imagine--God.

Your soul is missing because in your response to FMC you demonstrated no empathy, no compassion.

Calling someone souless is the same as saying they are not human.

Now I have a soul, you may not, but I do.

Don't you see FMC is using the liberal tactic of throwing emotion into her side of the arguement to blind others of the lack of logic her views have.

No they MUST be cast out!! More Flyers is what is needed. to let everyone know.

Felony convictions are a matter of public record. Anyone who is interested in learning this information has every right to do so. As does everyone who chooses to disseminate it.

While I agree with you, felony convictions are of public record. But, shouldn't the information that is put on flyers be truthful? If not what recours does one have?

Just curious.

You mean as compared to the unemotional way of tossing your socialist life into the mix?

But, shouldn't the information that is put on flyers be truthful?

Of course. To slander or libel a pervert causes one to lose a portion of the moral high ground, and reduces the effectiveness of the original intent.

If not what recourse does one have?

Whatever the statutes of the jurisdiction allow. But the perv should bear in mind that the nature of his conviction pretty much rules out the possibility of him ever regaining any standing in polite society.

I had to state how **** happens to just about everyone to negate her emotional statement and that I point out the logical holes in her arguement.

I am so sorry to hear about what happened to you. My sincerest prayers for you FMC.

I can only suggest genuine counseling for you to conquer this fear. Find a support group that is COMMITTED to your recovery. Surround yourself with caring friends/family members.

Please know that you will be on a long road to recovery but you will win against fear. God bless you FMC.
