Its just to easy to tape over the "protection hole" on the recorded tapes. Unless there is a way to defeat that, I suppose anyone could dub over a rental tape. DVD recorders are cheaper now than VCR's so at least that won't be a problem for long, and as for the new DVD recorders, I suppose you can't copy those because of copy protection as easily. With video tape even if it had "macro-vision" protection, it was easy to defeat with a macro-scrubber type device. Its to bad people think its funny to do things like that.

This type of thing really isn't anything new. Wonder how it even made the papers - must've been a slow day. Either way, within 10 years VCRs will be primitive relics, so who really cares anymore??
