Actress and New York native Maggie Gyllenhaall makes some controversial remarks at Friday night's TriBeCa Film Festival.
Gyllenhaal was at the premiere of her movie "The Great New Wonderful" which opened at the festival Friday night. The film is set in the city about a year after September 11, 2001 and looks at New Yorkers' feelings after the attacks.
But while describing the movie, the Lower East Side native said the United States should share some of the blame for what happened that day.
"I think what's good about the movie is that it deals with 9/11 in such a subtle, open, open way that I think it allows it to be more complicated than just 'Oh, look at these poor New Yorkers and how hard it was for them,' because I think America has done reprehensible things and is responsible in some way and so I think the delicacy with which it's dealt with allows that to sort of creep in," said Gyllenhaal.
The TriBeCa Film Festival was started after the terror attacks to bring tourists and money back to downtown Manhattan.
Another name on my personal blacklist - Sean Penn, Jane Fonda, Alex Baldwin, Susan Sarandon, Barbra Streistand, the list goes on.
These semi-retarded leftists may say whatever they want and I may choose to totally boycott any and all products or companies they're associated with.
They are so hopelessly stupid as a class, they haven't figured out that their chief talent that got them where they are in the entertainment industry (i.e., osculation and suction applied to certain body appendages) does not qualify them for geopolitical commentary.
More of the same from another vacuous starlet. Blah, Blah, Blah!
estimates are that about 15% of americans harbor such masochistic beliefs, including ward churchill.
If Gyllenhaal is homely, the vast majority of us are downright fugly. ;-)
Typical liberal, New Yorker and entertainment world idiot.
I think women look better without makeup.
Ever seen the FReeper photo album? :-)
No, really.
heh heh heh
"I think what's good about the movie is that it deals with 9/11 in such a subtle, open, open way"
Ok, it is subtle. But, hey it is OPEN. But it is OPEN in an OPEN, OPEN WAY? But of course not closed in an "in-your-face-way". Still it is subtle. How poetic.
I think that this woman needs to tend some burn patients in hospitals still suffering wounds from 9/11 to really understand subtle.
An actress. Her bio says she graduated from Columbia University. It's too bad she's such a flake. Her pictures and build remind me of an old girl friend of mine.
IOW, her opinion was given to her.
The left, expecially the morons in the entertainment industry, are so predictable. Broken records, really.
Now THERE are some gorgeous ladies! :-)
Another deep American political philospher who gets by memorizing words other people write and having a cute ass.
Just some stupid actress conforming to her leftie social circles. No original thought from this airhead. Nothing new.
We probably agree this Gyllenhaal person has a heck of an ugly attitude. :-)
*LOL*!
Okay, it's hard to argue with that.
"When Maggie was three she tried to kill her little brother Jake, because he wouldn't lip sing [sic] to Cindy Louper [sic]"
This woman's had issues for a long long time.
