Actress Maggie Gyllenhaal Makes Controversial Remarks About 9/11

Actress and New York native Maggie Gyllenhaall makes some controversial remarks at Friday night's TriBeCa Film Festival.

Gyllenhaal was at the premiere of her movie "The Great New Wonderful" which opened at the festival Friday night. The film is set in the city about a year after September 11, 2001 and looks at New Yorkers' feelings after the attacks.

But while describing the movie, the Lower East Side native said the United States should share some of the blame for what happened that day.

"I think what's good about the movie is that it deals with 9/11 in such a subtle, open, open way that I think it allows it to be more complicated than just 'Oh, look at these poor New Yorkers and how hard it was for them,' because I think America has done reprehensible things and is responsible in some way and so I think the delicacy with which it's dealt with allows that to sort of creep in," said Gyllenhaal.

The TriBeCa Film Festival was started after the terror attacks to bring tourists and money back to downtown Manhattan.

Well I sure hope she never has to deal with the "delicacies" of having been say, raped, because she wears sexy (to someone) clothes and therefore must not only be asking for it, but probably deserving of being raped too.

Hey Mags, here's something else for you to ponder. What say you STFU about global events/issues (etc.) and just stick to acting, a**hole!

Not surprised, also won't be surprised if their efforts flop.

Her family is in the business, and that gave her and her brother their opportunity over others who might be more talented or better looking.

The Internet has changed things. Years ago I'd read something like this and steam and wish I could express myself somehow. Now so many people have already commented that it's hard to care much about it. It's as though the emotions have been contracted out, and one moves quickly to a state of indifference.

Frustrations were greater once and built up in people. Now everyone has a chance to speak their piece. Things look more empassioned, but maybe the catharsis relieves tensions that would otherwise accumulate.

Donnie Darko was probably the worst movie I've seen in a long time.

The only way I could ever get back at my girlfriend for making me suffer through that crap would be to make her consecutively watch every movie ever made by John Cassavetes, Martin Scorsese, Sam Peckinpah, John Woo, Robert Rodriguez, Quentin Tarantino, etc.

Oh my GOD, that movie was bad...

Besides being U.S. Senators from the same state, Teddy and "Hanoi John" should be perennial "Tobaccky Juice Spit Ball" targets.

ABU GHRAIB

For graphics and animation, pick up the latest version of Paint Shop Pro. The two are bundled together and about as good as any high end graphics package, plus the price is right.

Maybe she'll change her mind if terrorists drop a jet engine on her house and kill her brother.

Does she by chance list any of the 'reprehensible' things America has done?

She's a very young woman and, from what I've read in the past, she was raised by far left people who undoubtably indocrintated her to feel this way.

How young is she and at what age can we expect her to start thinking on her own?

This is the face of someone trying to be relevant and politically hip.

Looks more like that person is trying to make you not look at her face or think of her mind! LOL

It's a "cult" classic,
but I have never seen it.
(I used to like films

that were called cult films --
like "Harold And Maude," "Brewster
McCloud" -- up until

I saw "Heathers" and
"Ginger Snaps" -- I thought those films
were so awful that

I've come to believe
calling a film a "cult" film
is marketing crap.)

The best part of Donnie Darko was when he died and the movie ended!

Oh well... It's probably a good thing that she's paid to emote rather than think.

As despicable as her comments were and they were horrible, I did like Donnie Darko. That's where my admiration ends though for that family though. What's ironic about this, is the militant islamists wouldn't think twice about slaughtering her because she has the audicity to wear skimpy clothing. You should thank the lord you live in America you prissy b****.
