WASHINGTON -- Free Muslims Against Terrorism Tuesday announced plans for a Washington rally in support of freedom and democracy in the Middle East and elsewhere.
The May 14 rally will be the first of its kind in the nation's capital led by Muslims and Middle Easterners, the group said in an e-mail to UPI.
The group said it wants to send a message to extremists and supporters of terrorism: "We reject them and we will do all we can to defeat them."
The organizers said the rally is open to all supporters.
"We want to send a message to the extremists and terrorists that American Muslims, Christians, Jews and people of all faiths are united against terrorism and extremism," the e-mail said.

About four years late, but better late than never.
Better late than never, I suppose.

What? CAIR not among the sponsors???? I'm shocked!
Nice account name.
They're probably on the counterprotest roster. How offensive this must be to them to even imply that Muslims should come out against extremism.
If these "Muslims" are against terror, I suggest either
1: They have not read the Koran
2: They have read the Koran, and are flat out pulling our infidel legs.
I choose #2. No islam, Know peace.
Jeff
3. American Islamic Congress
Oh hell no. The name says it all.
Jeff
24. U.S. Copts Association
These are not Muslims, they are Coptic Christians, that have been killed daily by the muslims. This whole mess reeks.
Jeff
Muslims against terror.
Isn't that like scorpions against stinging? Or cats against chasing mice?
About time.
EXACTLY!
I greet the antiterrorist muslims with great joy, wish the best of luck to both of them.
I disagree. The vast majority are not violent. I'll be at this event.
If 5 percent of Muslims on the planet are terrorist, what is that number sir?
Jeff
An estimated 1.2 billion Muslims are on the planet, 5% of this is?
Jeff
You're right that's a high number of people. Only way to eradicate that radical element is to work together. That's the point of the rally.
I wish them well, and yes, they do seem to be CAIR-free.
