Since Mo was a purported prophet from god I would think he would have risen above the hoi polloi and left the child brides alone. I can't think of an instance where a child was made a bride in the Bible, though I'm no expert.

Actually, you don't have to go back 2000 years, only about five hundred years ago in Europe the marriage age for girls was as low as 11 years old. In the Middle East, where most of this barbaric mess comes from, until now, they marry girls at puberty, which can be as low as 9 years old. The who object in the semitic culture, they value VIRGINITY big time. Child without wedlock is unacceptable, and parents KILL daughters who dishonor them by having sex before marriage or by getting pregnant. Therefore, given this kind of stupid background, and motives, parents would want to take this huge responsibility off their hands as soon as possible. Once a girl gets her period, she will be forced to get married. Now, having said so, it is not all the middle Eastern people that continue such practice it is mostly the poor uneducated villagers.
