The brat is in dire need of a good hide tanning.

I fully agree...but did you know that such punishment even when administered by parents is illegal in several states?

This kid's behavior is an example of what we see in high school.....except teenagers bring guns.

Something tells me that any disciplinary action by school officials or by law enforcement would have been followed with a lawsuit by the parent.

"I saw the video and the people are not qualified to be in the jobs they are in."

So who is qualified then?

No administrator or teacher in a school can look cross-eyed at a kindergartner through high schooler without having some derelict parent (who is probably pretty close to being 100% of the problem anyway) trying to sue the district, the police, the teachers, the janitor and everyone else that also looked cross-eyed at their little angel.

And the other person that states learn the background of the kid? Find what the real problem is? Get real. Do you two still want educators to educate? At all?

I want my kids to go to school to learn. Crap like this doesn't help with learning. It's a distraction and it's to the detriment of my kids learning. The ACLU, and other liberal idiots in society wants to tie everyones hands and make it almost impossible to keep order if a kid decides they don't want order.

So sure, teacher says kids being a little derelict, I don't have the tools I need to deal with derelicts, fine, the police deal with derelicts all day. Perfect solution. They do that enough and maybe teachers can someday get back to teaching kids who actually want to learn. As for that little angel? Sad to say, her parents won't parent, and she'll go to jail probably. If she goes to jail without ever permanently harming a solid, productive citizen in our society then its all gravy, but there are no guarantees are there?

IMO - The bottom line here is that the whole handcuffing incident would not have happened if the mother had come to the school when she was called. According to the audio from the video the mother stated that she got off work at 3 and could be there around 3:15. In reality any responsible parent would have left work immediately. She could have been there in 15 mins preventing any need for the police or other assistance.

They should have called social services to come and get this child, if the parent was not willing to. The parent(s) and child(ren) in that family need some intervention.

I hadn't heard the mother was called. Do you know how long it took for her to get to the school?

Here's the link to the video. It stops at the point where the child is being handcuffed. The article does mention that the child was taken to the police car and released from there to the parent.

AS someone who works in a school, I can tell you first hand we are NOT allowed to touch the children due to liability concerns. I don't know how it is in Florida, but here the police can not transport anyone unless they are handcuffed, again for liability reasons. I personally did not like the pictures I saw. This is something that child will live with for the rest of her life. This behavior is a serious problem and I dare say you will be seeing alot more videos like this one as well as hearing stories like this. This child probably has some serious behavior issues, not just spoiled or a brat. Watching her behavior, I can tell you there is more to the story than we are being told. Thank God for equal rights and mainstreaming children, it gives more to look at on the 6 oclock news.

Too many people these days spare the rod and spoil the children.
