According to the today’s New York Sun, "the next chapter in the United Nations crisis may erupt over U.N. investigator Paul Volcker’s membership on the board of one of Canada’s biggest companies, Power Corporation, since a past president of the firm, Canadian tycoon Maurice Strong, is now tied to the oil-for-food scandal."
The missing facts are: Not only are Volcker and Strong hooked with the ties that bind to Power Corporation Inc., a company under investigation in the oil-for-food scandal, Prime Minister Paul Martin was launched into the business world with Canadian Steamship Lines by Paul Desmarais’s Power Corporation Inc. and his predecessor Jean Chretien’s daughter, France is married to Paul Desmarais’ son, Andre Desmarais.
I would love to see a flow chart on this. Would be quite the spider web.

Maurice Strong is a destructive bastard on the level of George Soros and I rejoice to see the beginning of their respective exposures--certainly not in the rotten old media, but definitely in the new and effective world of blogs!
And according to the Mark Steyn article linked in post 51, Power Corp is the biggest shareholder of TotalFinaElf, which owned 25% of development rights to Iraq's oil fields, courtesy of Saddam Hussein.
Pretty direct trail: Volcker, boardmember of Power Corp, biggest shareholder in TotalFinaElf, collaborator of Saddam. Wow.
Power Corp. also controls Banque Nationale de Paris -- Paribas. BNP was, not coincidentally, the lead bank for the Oil-For-Food scam. And Power Corp. was also a major investor in Total/Fina/Elf -- the French concern which had negotiated a 25% share of Iraqi oil concessions with Saddam Hussein.
Thus, Paul Desmarais, the Canadian who controls Power Corp also controlled a.) the Canadian government, b.) the primary beneficiary of any relaxation of sanctions against Hussein, c.) the lead bank in the Oil-For-Food scandal and c.) the chief investigator of said scandal.
Indeed, it was "all about oil"...among those who resisted the Iraq war.

Well, knew there had to be some tainted reason for Volcker's empty efforts; rather than his just being too old for this task. .
So when do we get 'really' serious here?
Think the Demrats obstructing Bolton's nomination are more likely; just protecting some big rat; or even a 'rat pack' . . .
Just perhaps, some of these Dems are afraid that Bolton will knock some heads at the U.N. and the truth will fall out. . .
