'Spitting in Jane Fonda's face is every Vietnam Vet's fantasy,' wrote a Phoenix man. Bravo, Michael Smith, Bravo.' 'Heartfelt thanks.' 'Made my day.' 'What a true American this guy is.'

LOL... Freepers, no doubt.

Although the remarks are humorous, I don't think they help our cause.

Anyone know what Mr. Smith did in Vietnam? Was he humping a ruck along some trail in II Corps or was he in the rear with the gear in Saigon?

We all too often lump the grunts, whom everyone should admire, with the REMFs.

What I don't understand is why she is always asked about the picture of her sitting on the anti-aircraft gun, but NEVER asked about giving the slips of paper, which had been secretly given her by the POWs, to the VC commander?

Maybe Fonda figured someone was gonna spit on her and thus the sunglasses.

At least she had the smarts to wear shades inside. This probably isn't the first time that it happened either...

All of these women are more assertive now than when her father (Henry Fonda) was kind of an unassuming, conventional movie star.

What a double wide load of crap. Jane has allowed herself to be used and abused by every man in her life. There is a big difference between being assertive, and being obnoxious.

If Hanoi Jane's IQ was 2 points higher she would be a carrot.

There are doubts about the veracity of those claims. From Snopes: "The most serious accusations in the piece quoted above — that Fonda turned over slips of paper furtively given her by American POWS to the North Vietnamese and that several POWs were beaten to death as a result — are proveably untrue."

She had a hip replacement surgery last month and needs to be very careful about her activities. All those years of starvation ,dieting and extreme exercise took their toll. Hip replacements lead to problems with circulation etc. Lots of strokes and blood clots from the change from active to sedentary life style.

It doesn't matter diddly squat what he did there. The only question is if he served. Not every person who puts on the uniform can be an Audie Murphy, but the Murphys couldn't do their job unless there were 10 guys behind the lines doing theirs to support him in the field.

Jane's mind is still stuck back in 1969, the country has changed since then. (for the better, mostly)

Don't have a clue and don't even give a damn. All I know is that she has never gotten a cent of my money and she never will.

Read the book "Stolen Valor." You'll change your tune. I served for 22 years and it changed my outlook. (It's the unassuming, quiet guys who slogged it out day after day that are the real heroes, not the loud-mouthed frogs who seem to think that they're owed something for the six months that they served in a maintenance depot - or do you want to debate the whole Commander Kerry issue again).
