By my estimate, 40-50% of Harper's remarks - including the majority of his best ones - were en Francaise.

Given that this was a response to Martin's English blurb and that Harper had the additional opportunity to respond to Martin's French language one in that language, to me, it was pretty much a waste of this specific air time and largely pointless linguistic grandstanding.

Suffice to say, if I'd been among his handlers, I'd have advised him to use his English air time differently. Your implied comment that this somehow makes me guilty of some sort of imagined anti-French bigotry is as unfounded as it is offensive.

For that I apologize. I'm simply saying that Martin dug his own grave and he's going to have to bury himself in it next Winter. This speech of his was simply a Hail Mary pass, the football ended up bouncing around in the endzone with no receivers in sight.
