Today, 292 pages of court documents were made public detailing the prosecution account of her last days at the hands of her alleged killer, John Evander Couey. Bound and buried near her home, possibly while still alive, Jessica cradled in her arms a stuffed toy dolphin, the documents say.
Jessica's body was found buried behind a house where Couey lived with his half-sister. Her body was covered by garbage bags, documents said, and her hands were bound with what appeared to be stereo wire.

Just execute this bastard as soon as possible.
Couey should be sentenced to being bound, raped, and then after 3 days buried alive in the same manner.......sentence should be carried out by the inmates of the general population in Florida's meanest prison.
Drawing and quartering is the appropriate punishment for this type of crime.

I guess we'll never understand what drives a man to do such a thing. How does anyone arrive at the conclusion that a thing like this is a good idea? It's just so horrible I can't even contemplate it for long. But I can't help but wonder exactly what his thought process was.

No one will convince me that the ghouls who live in the trailer were unaware of the evil in their midst. Time to charge and put away/down the ghouls.

Couey's worst nightmare will be NOT getting solitary confinement.
All my mind's eye can see is the photo of the pretty little girl and the anguish of her father as he begged this piece of scum to let his daughter go. My heart simply breaks for him.

Re the Thomas Sowell quote at the beginning of this article: I wholeheartedly agree. I don't know if it is a Federal or a State law, but the law requires that sex offenders and sex predators be let out and returned to the community when their sentences are completed. We are having great disputes in my area of Wisconsin right now because the state wants to build a sexual predator half-way house in my community -- or to be precise, across the road from my community in another County.
Our current Wisconsin law requires that they be returned to the community where they are from. That means that lots of them are to be returned to the largest cities. Because nobody wants them, Milwaukee's solution was to harbor about 20 of them in a specially constructed home on the county line right across the road from my relatively quiet, rural, and prosperous community.
It's all on hold now because the neighbors created a ruckus about it. Our Senator's solution is to change the law so that the predators don't have to go back to the community they came from (because they cannot find a place) but could be located ANYPLACE in the state that will have them (they are thinking rural.) I don't think that this is a good solution at all.
I would prefer that the worst of the worst would be given very long sentences -- VERY LONG -- and then released only after Depoprovara treatment and with a GPS bracelet riveted on their ankle.

I agree. I am just hoping that the DA is holding off on bringing in these scum as well because he wants to build an airtight case. But am I missing something here or what? If the police come to your door and ask if so and so is here and you harbor that criminal...why isn't that automatically conspiracy or harboring a criminal? Also, they must have known that this was not his or their child?
I am hoping he gets a Life sentence, not the death penalty. Then if gets death, he will be infamous for the twenty or so years it will take and this family has gone through enough. Give him life...it won't be pretty in prison for him!
Imagine, that in her sheer terror, she CRIED, PLEADED for her Daddy/Mommy to come HELP her.
Imagine, what her little heart went through as it REALISED, NO ONE she loved would come to save her...NOBODY would show up to be with her...NOBODY was going to be there to 'make it all better' or to 'make it stop'.

THAT, is what I wish to see happen to the trailer occupants...the enablers to this crime...the co-conspirators.

What makes you think they are unmoved? Because most of them oppose capital punishment?
