A jury has unanimously found Sergeant Hasan Akbar guilty in the attacks on fellow soldiers just days before the Iraq war.
Akbar was charged with two counts of first degree murder and three counts of attempted first degree murder.
Two officers died and 14 others were injured.
A sentencing hearing will be held to decide his fate.
Prosecutors say Akbar told investigators he launched the attack because he was concerned U.S. troops would kill fellow Muslims in the Iraq war.
They still do the ol' firing squad thing?
they should frag'm instead...punishment fits the crime...
The picture at this link confirms it:

Thanks..I was working frim memory..most likely I was wrong...
I don't really care what method they use. No method really fits the crime. For what it's worth, the military uses lethal injection.
FYI. I found the Hackworth thread..I'll ping you on it...let me know what you think of it..regards
Yes there is another thread going, but some of us happen to update one another each day and discuss the case. Everyone is obviously welcome but there are some who chat about the day's event.
I would offer to send you updates but Monday will I hope be the last update until his execution.
Thanks! :)
The sentence, whatever it ends up being, has nothing to do with the Bush admin.
Guilty! Death penalty.
Open mouth- insert grenade, pull pin. Call garbage collectors.
I can't imagine why you bring up the Sandy Berger case -- it has nothing to do with this matter. And since the only options for Akbar are life in prison or death, I'm not I can agree that he's going to get a slap on the wrist.
The president wasn't shy about using the death penalty in Texas -- I don't think he'll be shy about using it now, especially in a case like this one that really cries out for the strongest penalty.
Good.
Now haul him out aand hang him.
Rope is a re-newable resource and that tree over there is empty...
Scum.
Here, Akbar!
Catch!
I dunno 2 1/2 hours was a lot of time to conclude that he did it since both the prosecution and defence stipulated he did it..........
I've sat on two of them. We spent a great deal of time on procedure and housekeeping issues.
As important as this was, I'm sure they all talked before they took a vote. They wanted to make deadly sure everyone was on the same page.
Just a guess, but they also may not have wanted to come back in after 20 minutes, lest the press accuse them of a litany of transgressions from racism to global warming.
You are probably right. I hadn't thought about the procedural stuff. You'd want to make sure you did it all 100% correct too so the fink didn't weasel out of it later.
