Senaotr Jeffords just admitted that he is suffering from memory loss and mental illness. So serious (and sad) that Washington whispers had him showing up at the wrong committee meetings and he never noticed.

This leds me to wonder how many other mentally challenged are serving this country in the Senate. Certainly Byrd and Kennedy have lost it long ago. I'm wondering if Voinivich is stable, his statements reveal otherwise.

Leaky pat Leahy was recently tapped on C-Span (later replayed on Hannity) that Bush will attack Iran for their oil because Jeb Bush has a secret deal with Big Oil to get Iran oil in exchange for the presidency. Newt, after hearing this, called Leahy crazy. Many "leaders" in the Senate worry me.

Maybe the President should just do an end run and amend the Constitution to do away with the Senate! Or term limits at the least. These people get in and it's a job for life: Byrd, Kennedy, Dodd, Biden and so on (there have been Republicans of this ilk too like Strom Thurmond). Hell, most of them don't even treat it as a job - witness Kerry's missing almost every vote for a year, and Voinovich admitting he missed the Bolton hearings.

I could not believe my ears last night, when Major Garrett, on Special Report said that Voinovich had told Fox News :

" The Holy Spirit moved him to withdraw his support ."

I find that remark to be flippant and inappropriate. Either Voinovich doesn't get it and thinks this is a big joke or he's got a few screws loose.
Maybe both.
