Fat Ted must have had a hang over and could not muster his fat ass up out of the chair to argue about it.

He doesn't have to be there, all he has to do is call his lackeys, collins, snowe and chafffee.

Backroom deal cut to let Owens nomination out of committee while letting Tom DeLay go before the House Ethics committee. Dems think they got a bargin, but an open investigation is just what DeLay wants to clear his name. Bynovich holding up Boldin nomination is also part of the deal.

Funny thing is that any investigation into Delay is going to open every Democrats such as Pesoli and Tubbs up to the same thing, Democrats are trying to create smoke where there is no fire.

Obama has already public stated that he will support Brown in the full Senate and stated that filbuster were used to keep people like he and I out of the polls during the civil rights era.

Does that mean he will vote for cloture? I don't understand your/his statement?.

Thatr means if the rules are changed and 51 votes are needed Obama is voting with the majority.

they are going to let Brown thru as well

Clarification: you mean the Dems are not going to filibuster Brown or Owens for fear of ticking off women and blacks?

I think the democrats let her through to embarrass Frist.

What am I missing here? How could the Dems "let" Owens through the committee? It was a party-line vote, wasn't it? All Owens needed was for the Republicans to show up and vote in solidarity, right?

Well John Kerry is up on the Senate floor giving his first 2008 campaign speech---

He is hopping mad that the Republicans, talk radio, and the internet are smearing ole Voinivich for standing up for principle!!! yeah, right...principle my butt, he has been bought off by Soros, is my guess...

Now he is saying how mean the Republicans are because "every body knows" that the US Constitution was based on catering to the MINORITY not the majority, and also the GOP call people bad names....

WHA, WHA, WHA.....cry me a river, you traitor!

If the rule for invoking cloture isn't changed (for nominees), I can see the DEMs counting heads and allowing Obama to vote for cloture, as long as that doesn't result in the actual confirmation vote to proceed.

It's all clear now. Kerry is the winner because he lost the election.

Whadda putz.

Yes given the distrust that Blacks have with the filbuster, Dems will let them both thru and save the fight for the next bunch of nominees.

"This nomination is going to be precipitate a confrontation that we do not need," Durbin said.

I agree with you completely, Dick! So confirm her ASAP and avoid this unnecessary confrontation.

She may be out of committee, but she still hasn't had a floor vote---and that is when the poo-poo is gonna hit the fan, because the dems are saying that she would have to have 60 votes to be confirmed---

The GOP is saying no, just a simple majority of 51 votes--

THAT is when the filibuster starts, unless the dems have decided to hold their fire until the Supreme nominee, but I doubt it because after the Bolton fiasco, they know they have the GOP senators on defense, not offense.

So they are gonna go for the hail-mary and send out Drew Pearson---

If only someone could find the key to the GOP testicular lockbox.

Isn't Al Gore in charge of lockboxes or is that nuts in a vice? I get so confused.

The GOP has done a horrible job of telling the truth about history.

No it hasn't. You can blame that on the media and our education system.
