Maybe he knows something that we don't know? Three Republicans are now voicing doubt. After all, I would hope that they are working in the best interest of US, not only the party.

There are times when party leaders--such as the Republican senators on this committee--need to stand together and support the President's choices for appointive office, and I think this is one of those times. I don't know much about Voinovich (sp?) or Hagel, but I do know a little about Chaffee and a great deal about Lugar (since he's been my senator for, well, decades now). I haven't seen Senator Lugar quoted in the Indianapolis Star articulating the reasons for his lukewarm support for the Bolton nomination. If Lugar has his reasons, I (for one) would like to know them. He owes his constituency an explanation. In my view, thinking Bolton not tactful or diplomatic enough is not reason enough for opposing the President.
