Because the world wants another John Paul II.
We didn't get him.
Maybe next time.

Deacon - What do you mean? Is His Holiness not what people wanted? Was the joy not real?
Seems to me you were waiting for Pope John Paul II to go, so he wouldn't get in the way "progress."
I am pleased that the RCC chose a leader who ascribes to the claims of truth and appears to hold to traditional notions of morality. However, that does not move me. I am more directly affected by which President I have than which pope sits in Rome.
And why in America, where the church is torn in divisions, did people run to the TV and the radio when word spread?
I guess because we Americans have an insatiable appetite for celebrity and experience. This gal is so melodramatic it often hurts to read her column.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the selection of the Holy Father was all about what God wants, not what the world wants. Maybe the world should get a clue that God is trying to tell them something with the selection of this man. If the Church really believes that the Holy Spirit is active in the choosing of the Pope, then the members should pay attention to what the Holy Spirit is trying to tell them with his selection. If Catholics have a problem with the Pope, they can always leave and become Episcopalians, who are definitely "blown about by every wind of doctrine!" (I say this as a disheartened Episcopalian...)
hmmmmm... i could have sworn you said we ought to wait and see. are you prejudging his Holiness BXVI?
