(SACRAMENTO) The organization strongly backing the nomination of John Bolton to serve as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Move America Forward (website: www.MoveAmericaForward.org), has released a new 60-second radio ad that will begin airing throughout the state of Ohio on Thursday criticizing Republican Senator, George Voinovich, for blocking the confirmation of John Bolton for U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.
The ad features radio personalities Melanie Morgan and Tom Benner of KSFO 560 AM San Francisco and can be downloaded from Move America Forwards website: www.MoveAmericaForward.org
Senator George Voinovich single-handedly blocked the Bolton confirmation vote based on unproven, unsubstantiated and uncorroborated allegations of an anti-Bush activist dished up at the last minute by those whose only intentions were to obstruct President Bushs nominee, said Howard Kaloogian, Chairman of Move America Forward.
Kaloogian was referring to the fact that the allegations cited by Senate Democrats in their last minute frenzy of anti-Bolton material came from a self-described liberal Democrat who helped launch the Dallas chapter of MOB Mothers Opposing Bush.
Its inexcusable that George Voinovich would follow the marching orders of some left wing activist over the recommendations of President Bush and Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice who enthusiastically support John Bolton, Kaloogian said.
We need someone like Bolton to help fight the corruption and anti-Americanism that increasingly seems to be the cause célèbre of UN officials. But a Republican turncoat Senator doing the bidding of the Blame America First crowd obstructs Mr. Boltons confirmation. Its amazing that Senator Voinovich could align himself with those who need no excuse to defend the United Nations yet criticize Americas Commander in Chief, said Melanie Morgan, Co-Chair of Move America Forward.
Move America Forward is funding this advertising effort solely from the contributions received from its supporters, primarily through online contributions made at www.MoveAmericaForward.org.
Since we announced our intentions to broadcast ads criticizing Senator Voinovichs obstruction of the Bolton nomination, contributions from all around the country have been coming in and overwhelming our website at times. This is a stunning response from patriotic Americans, said Morgan.
The organization is already preparing additional ads to air as part of the overall ad campaign, and the ads will run between now and the resumption of the Bolton confirmation hearings.
Were going to hold Senator Voinovichs feet to the fire. If he thought he needed to be sensitive to the pressure from liberal Senators Barbara Boxer and John Kerry, then we think he should also be responsive to those Ohioans who want to see a strong advocate for U.S. interests at the UN, Morgan concluded.
Blackmail? Threats? Talking too much, thinking too little? Permanent vegetative state?
I can't figure out what the heck Voinovich was thinking.
Vain-Old-B#tch!
Though with your nickname it does bring new possibilities to the Linda Rondstadt ditty, "You're So Vain"
I emailed our good senator this morning and have yet to receive a reply.
My question was simple enough: Why did you wait until the last minute to raise an objection?
THESE RINOS NEED TO BE KICKED OUT OF THE GOP!!!
I emailed Voinovich telling him I was tired of northeast Ohio's version of conservatism, and that I'd rather have a Dem who says he's a Dem than a Dem pretending to be a Republican.
Where in the hell is the republican leadership on this? A similar ad needs to be run in Kentucky, the home of Mitch McConnell, Senate Whip's. He is absolute derelict in his duties.
Remember those FBI files Hillary had for 2 years. Strange how some RINO'S are trying to be sensitive to the DemocRATS concerns.
It seems to me that Voinivich's major concern is that Bolton gets upset periodically. Show me an executive that doesn't, and I'll bet you'll find an unsuccessful executive.
Tell us Voiny, have you ever been upset at a member of your staff?
I wrote him too, many times, but I was not nearly as polite as you were! :-)
I agree with you. Why would Voinovich not attend the hearings; never say anything to anyone; and then drop a bombshell on the President of the United States and embarass the Republican leaders of the Senate and the Foreign Relations Committee?
It is not like the Bolton nomination is a minor thing. It is a key part of the President's foreign policy of spreading democracy and freedom around the globe to protect American security.
You don't back stab your own President and deny him the people he wants to staff his Administration. I think if the Senate told Voinovich he couldn't have his staff picks, he would throw a fit.
I am just glad that Move America Forward is running radio ads to wake this man up.
It's not McCain or Hagel this time which is a relief. There must be some sort of pact betweem some pubblie to act as the "fly in the ointment" within the party. We are wasting our majority position on issues like this.
Apparently Voinivich is now claiming the Holy Spirit told him to do so.
My response is that it wasn't the Holy Spirit that urged him to stab his collegues in the back without warning with a lame excuse of not having done his job. If a Spirit was whispering in his ear, it wasn't one sent by God.
I didn't think I could despise him more, but pinning his betrayal on the Holy Spirit just sent my anger to a whole new level.
These radio ads won't do a thing to change Voinovich. Unfortunately, he's safe for 6 years.
I smell a RECALL against that RINO.
Damn straight.
If the GOP cannot go nuclear, the Base will. It's going to be a bloodbath in '06 and it'll start with Chafee and hagel to name two. I'm considering Dewine needs to be added to that list since by accounts he is cut from the same cloth as Voinovich. If we can't throw Voinovich out, we can throw his other half out.
But DeWine isn't.
It's about the UN STUPID!
As a career military man myself, I can name you numerous officers that shouldn't have been promoted because they hurt my feelings. Expressing emotions is part of doing your job sometimes. The PC crowd doesn't seem to grasp that.
