This shows the pure insanity of the no border security crowd. They don't want to pay to jail them here (because illegal aliens are a benefit on our society, not a drain) so they just send them back home. And they're free to waltz back over our borders at their leisure. And even the president's much touted 'guest worker' program won't do a dang thing to stop it from happening.

After the hearing, Perez (the priest) said he was grateful to the judge for the sentence. "I'm convinced the law, in this case, served man," he said. "Maybe he didn't stop to help me (at the time of the accident) but there were others to help me - the paramedics and others who were with me. I was not left to die alone. I had the help that he couldn't give . . . This accident took my leg. But, in a way, it took his life."

Why don't you focus on the wonderful example for all of us of forgiveness and understanding provided by Fr. Perez?

This was a tragedy all the way around, yet Fr. Perez has used this to show us the perfect example of Christ-like forgiveness.

I agree that our borders should be secured, but don't take the lapses of our government out on this poor man. Think of Fr. Perez's words.

The key word missing from all the arguments I have heard or read about licenses for illegals is "AUTO INSURANCE". Just about every state has insurance requirements for a license. Should this requirement be waived so Gomez doesn't have to take the bus? Why should I, at the bottom line, have to pay for some cholo's transportation expenses?

Did this fellow have a license? Was he insured? Likely the answer is no to both questions. Who was stuck with the medical costs of the victim? Once again....

Borda said his client won't fight the deportation. (Because he can just walk right back over the border again)

He would face 15 years I would think. And if he does 'sneak' back in then tough. this has nothing to do with 'open borders'; it has to do with irresponsible youth and stupid state laws that require us to insure our vehicles but not the drivers.

>>He crossed the border at age 17 to come to the United States to work to send money home to his mother and for the chance at a better life.<<

WRONG! "to work to send money home to his mother SO SHE COULD COME TO THE US and for the chance at a better life.

I would like to thank the fine priest for wanting to keep a criminal amongst us. Just another liberal goof self centered on his vanity.

This is just one of thousands of examples where illegal aliens hurt, victimize, or kill unsuspecting American citizens. The noose is now tightening down on them. Hardworking American taxpayers have had enough.

Two comments, the Priest traded his leg for the man's soul, maybe thats the silver lining. Yes if he was illegal deportation should have occurred either way.

Nobody from the MMP or actual conservatives should have a problem with legal immigrants, or naturalized citizens, over any native born American.

If people are willing to live peacefully under the law, then they shall live in peace. Illegal immigrants have show off the bat, they are willing to cooperate with criminal racketeering organizations to get over here, and as a result, should be deported.
