German Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, the Vatican theologian who was elected Pope Benedict XVI, intervened in the 2004 US election campaign ordering bishops to deny communion to abortion rights supporters including presidential candidate John Kerry.

I am not Catholic, in fact I disagree with many of the teachings of this particular church. I respect the character of this new pope in standing firm against relativism!

Agreed.

I'll never be a catholic but so far this man is impressive. I was particularly impressed by the reporting that stated he was unlikely to crossover in worship. I respect that stance a great deal.

I respect someone that stands by their Church and the beliefs of that Church.

And I respect someone that is unapolgetic about God's word, the harm of humanism, etc..

"I am not Catholic, in fact I disagree with many of the teachings of this particular church."

That is redundant!
