IIRC, his interpration of scripture was that the generation born with the state of Israel would not pass before all these biblical prophecys came to fulfillment. there is still debate on what that means. how long does it take for a generation to "pass"? 40 years? 60? 80?
enquiring minds and all...

Jesus said that the generation which saw the "fig tree bloom" would be the generation that saw everything fulfilled. Most Biblical scholars agree the "fig tree" is Israel. Israel became a nation on May 14, 1948 - and a lot of scholars believe that is when the "fig tree" bloomed.
