"The democrats are in the minority, and they could do this? Man, they're good."
I disagree - this episode doesn't reflect much competence from the 'Rats, it just shows the toxic combination of RINO-weasels and ineffective R. senate leadership. Rs should have known from the Clarence Thomas hearings what the 'Rats are capable of, and should have had all their ducks in a row. Whatever is going on with Voinkovich, Lugar and Frist should have known ahead of times how things stood (or else V. is very far off the reservation). Frist and Lugar had better pull this thing together quick, else the RINOs will spin out of control and the base support for the party will seriously erode....
I agree with people who say this nomination is much more important for what it shows about R. competence and resolve in excercising majority power in the Senate than in how much we care about the f'in United Nations....
The Democrat "attack" was obviously coordinated -- and it looked like they had some RINO help, because things changed radically as soon as the V guy spoke up.
