Posted on 04/19/2005 11:07:48 AM PDT by ken5050

OK..here's what we know..Senate is in recess for the weekly party caucus luncheons. Supposed to resume at 2:15. on C-span 2.. The Foreign Relations committee is supposed to meet at 2:45 to vote on the Bolton nomination. Lugar has refused requests for a delay. Just before the Senate recessed, Reid objected to Frist's UC request for the Froeign Relations committee to meet today. Frist withdrew his request..

Perfect solution. You are too clever by half. (Someday I'll find out what that means--my English friend used that all the time.) Only thing missing was W's freeper name on your post--I don't think any of his staff have come up with that solution yet! :)

Perfect solution--you are too clever by half. (Someday I'm going to find out what that means--a favorite saying of an English friend but somehow I think it fits!) I wonder if "W" is a freeper--don't think any of his staff have thought of outfoxing the 'rats this way.

well WELL , I hope Peggy Noonan writes something for W to say , so he can climb into the bully pulpit [wipe the cobwebs out,it hasn't been used much]

%%%%%

What do you call flying to 60 cities in 60 days to speak face to face with 60 communities of Americans? I call that using the bully pulpit.

Dem media just do not report what he says on national media outlets. He is out there talking! During the Clinton years we heard a soundbite in Clinton's voice practically every 30 minutes, and he was in at least one evening news story every night. Bush is given the silent treatment even though he works much harder than Clinton ever did.

The Senate GOP cowards and turncoats will never convene another hearing on Bolton. They have no loyalty to the party or to the president. They'll go along to get along. The nomination will never make it to the floor. Kiss the Constitutional Option goodbye, too.

We all need to take that list of spineless creeps and bombard each one of them with "Remember Tom Daschle" postcards and letters. Proud to say we supported John Thune's campaign and received a Christmas card of thanks--photo of JT and his two gorgeous daughters and wife.

How "tough" Bolton is is irrelevant. How tough do you think Lugar, Chaffee and Vonivitch are? Tougher than Boxer, Dodd and Biden? I don't think so....

Did you see Dick Morris on Hannity & Colmes, earlier?

#####

I have a rule of thumb that whatever Dick Morris says is true or about to happen, I believe the opposite. My rule has not been wrong yet. As a matter of fact, I am happy to hear him make statements that disagree with what I want, because it is like an assurance that my prediction will come true.

And let us all commit mass suicide.

Come one be optimistic, Bolton will be confirmed and the judicial filibuster will end.

Excellent, but I've got a better idea. Accept the current ambassador's nomination, effective immediately.

Wait.

We either have Bolton or nobody.

Okay...here's a conspiracy theory. Suppose W nominated Bolton thinking he was unconfirmable, and we would therefore be without a UN ambassador, which would effectively shut down the organization. He saw that Bolton looked like he would sail through, so he choose a freshly elected Republican who is very strong at home to oppose the nomination. That way, we hold up the filling of the spot, and keep the ambassadorship to the UN open.

Dang, for your conspiracy theory to be correct, Bush would have to be knocked up side the head for putting Bolton out there for all that BS for nothing!!!!

Bolton has been called everything but a baby-killer (they save that for our military) and he hasn't had the Republican Senators didn't call even one witness that will testify to the good things about him---

Which begs the question...what has Voinovich been doing? That he was unprepared to vote on a major vote for the president. We can only hope that he hasn't compromised himself.

I didn't think it was likely. I just thought it be fun to rationalize away the miserable failure that was today's committee.

If the socialists that masquerade as democrats decide to "sut down the government" over the nuclear option, what is to keep the Republican leader from filling all of their spots on the committees with all Republicans and continuing the work of the people?

Then they could go to floor voted on all of these people and be confirmed by however many senators (all repubs) as are there.

LOL---I know how you feel---things like happened today are just so unexplainable (is that a word?)!!!

I was watching the previous two days of the hearing and the only GOP committee members that showed up were Allen,Coleman, and Chafee, and of course Lugar, but as far as I can remember none of the other committee members--oh and I think Hagel was there, but he is so forgettable that, I forgot!!!

Still, it is unexcusable for any of those members NOT to be totally informed about the "allegations" that the dems were spreading all over the media!!!

yeah,...that's why I'm so torqued at Lugar and his staff , at one point,Biden just steamrollered Lugar , Lugar looked like a freshman high school hall monitor , unaware of any options to procede , Lugar let half-baked rumor stall the process and NOW ,well, THE LONG SLOW-WALK TO NOWHERE has begun
