OK..here's what we know..Senate is in recess for the weekly party caucus luncheons. Supposed to resume at 2:15. on C-span 2.. The Foreign Relations committee is supposed to meet at 2:45 to vote on the Bolton nomination. Lugar has refused requests for a delay. Folk here have been calling his office only to have his clerk hang up on us...have you heard anything different? I really don't know much about this senator, and his voice vote was extremely surprising, does he vote like this all the time? Any news there over this?

I almost used "squishy" - but then I wouldn't have had the nice alliteration of "mooshy" and "malicious." :)

The word "mooshy" used with "malicious" works. :) I usually say "Mooshy-middle Republican". :)

Because for whatever reason he had decided he wanted to publically embarrass Lugar, Republicans and stab the base in the back. Why no one knows. Warning signal about Judicial filibusters? Does he want more pork? Special pet legislation? Only can guess. Personally I wuld deny him everything.

It is quite a feat to eclipse McCain, but Voinivich has done it. Even McCain hasn't humilated Republicans in this manner.

Well, you've got THAT right. My husband is furious too.

We did not win this election for the President to have our OWN Senator betray him!

Rose, we haven't gotten through yet either. I have e-mailed, and we will both call separately, and repeatedly if necessary tomorrow.

We will also contact the Ohio Republican Party.

This cannot stand!

In 2000 I was supporting people who I believed had the courage of their principles.

Figures that worthless dingbat Boxer had to interupt the Chairman Lugars opening remarks, with some call for an idiotic roll call vote. Five minutes in, and it's already turned into ugly sniping from the Dems. LOL! Lugar said NO!.

Has this legislation passed in the House of Representatives yet?

You will find around here that there is a certain group of folks that ANY time taht it looks like W isn't showing the backbone they think he should display...immediately start badmouthing him.

They start with the..."I voted for W....but..."

It was this way at various times during the initial prt of Iraq and during the election almost all the time.

I am not that familiar with Voinovich but when I saw him today,he looked very sun tanned and tired. When he spoke he was not confident and sounded either under the weather or guilty of something. I think he realized he stepped in deep doo doo. Is he naturally swarthy looking? If so then that was his natural look, but he has no projection and no energy.

I'm not certain if that is his usual look.

Though If I betrayed friends and constituents without a hint of warning I'd carry that betrayal on my face. I'm not certain that is the case for Voinivich, but if it is I have no sympathy. At any time he could have withdrawn his objection while a vote was still able to be passed. He did not.
