OK..here's what we know..Senate is in recess for the weekly party caucus luncheons. Supposed to resume at 2:15. on C-span 2.. The Foreign Relations committee is supposed to meet at 2:45 to vote on the Bolton nomination. Lugar has refused requests for a delay. Just before the Senate recessed, Reid objected to Frist's UC request for the Froeign Relations committee to meet today. Frist withdrew his request..

Yes, I'm familiar with the usual procedure. I also know what was highly irregular and what's not.

Evidence for that? Are you saying Carl Ford was a plant? He's a lifelong conservative Republican! Is it humanly possible for you to comprehend that someone might speak against the adminsitration and still be a patriot?

Agreed. He must have sandbagged Lugar. The Chairman never goes to a meeting without knowing beforehand the results of a vote. You don't call for a vote unless you already know the result.

I feel like Charlie Brown, when Lucy keeps pulling the football out from under, despite promising never to do it again...Obviously I need to do penance, big time. I may call the local zoo, see if I can sponsor a Rhino..

What?! Over? Did you say 'over'? NOTHING is over until WE decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? HELL, NO!

RUSH LIMBAUGH (4-12-05): I'm getting fed up with so many people like Rick Santorum who is a conservative one day, decides he wants to be president and then starts moving to the center.

I'm fed up with people like Christopher Shays. I'm fed up with this attack on Tom DeLay.

He's not done one damn thing. There's no charge. He's not guilty of anything!

I'm fed up with phony baloney, plastic-banana, good-time rock and roller so-called moderate wimps like Chris Shays and all these other clowns that are going after Tom DeLay simply because he's effective.

I'm fed up with our side that doesn't stand up for our people.

I'm fed up with our guys that don't advance our agenda because they're scared.

I'm sick and tired of people that are fearful of every damn thing.

I'm sick and tired of phonies that live their lives only to get media coverage instead of be real.

I understand the needs to go out and get votes and expand and mix coalitions and constituency groups and this sort of thing, but I've always believed: Do the right thing and the politics will follow.

You know, the left hasn't changed in I don't know how many decades, but it's the same old rigmarole, and I just get tired of explaining it and talking about it to people, and when you do something about it that causes -- or is supposed to cause -- change, like elect a bunch of people that are in the majority, who are supposed to affect the change everybody believes in and then they pokey along and act afraid to do it, you throw your hands up and say, "WHAT THE HELL?!?"

Body language tells me that Lugar is loaded with estrogen and is not mean enough to do this job. Frist is cocky and pretends to be nice but remember he used to cut into chests for a living and I do not think the dems want to get too much on his bad side, they might need him for CPR one day especially as long in the tooth as they are. Frist does not make me cringe. I cannot watch Lugar, he sucked on the Ag committee, but he was much more suited to dealing in that one than this.

What I still don't get.... Voinovich sandbagged his president, and his chairman..why..if he sincerely felt he needed more time..OK..then tell Lugar well before the metting..let Lugar reschedule..Voinovich's actions were done in the worst possible way to hurt the WH..why?

I don't know why he did it. I'm furious with Voinovich for being so simultaneously mooshy and malicious.

The U.S. Senate - 2005

The Senate's full of divas
Each one a perfumed prince
If egos equaled dollars
They'd all be filthy rich

The Democrats' obstruction
Comes to them naturally
Like Bolshevik crusaders
They learned at Lenin's knee

Republicans are spineless
They take them at the door
Then like a human jellyfish
They ooze across the Floor

The Senate is a wasteland
No courage to be found
To stand up for our principles
And bravely stand their ground

EV

I don't think George Allen's the best advocate for your side. He didn't seem to understand what was going on, poker-wise, during the hearing.

I'm talking in general. A pattern of rogues that are being rooted out at CIA and soon at State.

Like back during the beginnings of the Joe Wilson saga, before his op-ed, an anonymous CIA official was cited as a source for supporting Wilson's version of events.

A version that has been demonstrated as false.

That's just one example off the top of my head, and now I'm leaving for Mass to celebrate our new Pope so you'll excuse me for not being around for a bit.

Petty revenge for a grievance? The need to send a message that "I'm not being paid enough attention"? I honestly don't know.

Makes sense--if Bolton fails, W should say he'll pick a new choice when he gets around to it. When the Dems bitch he can say "You blocked my choice."

It's not roguish to put loyalty to country over loyalty to president.
