OK..here's what we know..Senate is in recess for the weekly party caucus luncheons. Supposed to resume at 2:15. on C-span 2.. The Foreign Relations committee is supposed to meet at 2:45 to vote on the Bolton nomination. Lugar has refused requests for a delay. Just before the Senate recessed, Reid objected to Frist's UC request for the Froeign Relations committee to meet today. Frist withdrew his request..
Frist is the Senate majority Leader. If HE cannot or will not do HIS job, he needs to resign. Bush does have other thing to do like conduct a war. I certainly don't see delay running to the W.H. to beg for help in controlling his own body. That's because Delay knows how to govern as a majority Leader.
Fox just reported that Chaffee said that Bolton's support is "eroding."
Guys, if you don't see a pattern in Bolton's behavior that should raise suspicions regarding the NSA documents, you've been sleeping.
Its over...
I thought the proxy was Osama Obama. Could be wrong though.
And btw, how can we depend on intelligence when rogues are planting false stories in the press anonymously in order to undermine an administration.
Let me know when that bothers you.
"I don't understand why no one here, as patriots, mentions the alleged offense, just revealed today, that will be investigated--that Bolton made extraordinary efforts to un-redact top secret NSA documents to intimidate people whose intelligence reports he found inconvenient. It's as if no one cares if it's true or not."
Sorry, more like no one here believes the leftist spin put on these sorts of last-second 'allegations'.... you say Bolton was trying to 'intimidate' analysts with NSA documents -- I think it's far far more likely he was trying to wade through the cesspool of Carter/Clinton-lite spin that has so damaged our intelligence agencies without drowning in it. Since I have good reasons to believe that Bolton's judgment is far more sensible and insightful than any of his accusers, I see no reason to allow his confirmation to be delayed by a a series of last-second 'allegations' while the 'Rats manipulate the confirmation process. Anyone who thinks the 'Rats are acting in good faith here needs help....
Do you guys ever study past confirmation hearings? This rush to a vote was highly irregular. That was plain to see.
That ain't nothing compared to the eroding happening with the Republican Base
I'm still Hot about this
Those Nit Wits on the Hill BEST get their act together or they can shove it where the shine don't shine!
I just recall hearing that part of the problem with recess judicial appointments was that such positions were unpaid.
Ok thanks
He didn't mention that he was late for the meeting
What needs to happen is an all-out-offensive against those liberal senators like Boxer, Sarbanes, Reid and open up all THEIR history and start advertising all their Yelling, screaming tantrums and say they were abusive, yada, yada, yada. THROW their accusations back at them - rent billboard signs, take out one page ads in the biggy papers, etc.
Berger should go to jail. That has nothing to do with what happened today.
Let's just say, for the sake of argument, that Bush makes a mistake and does nominate someone with awful acts on their hands. Would you support this person down the line, just because Bush nominated him?
Honestly, please stop that.
It only gives aid to those who would make things up when you so easily concede defeat.
What I still don't get.... Voinovich sandbagged his president, and his chairman..why..if he sincerely felt he neede more time..OK..then tell Lugar well before the metting..let Lugar reschedule..Voinovich's actions were done in the worst possible way to hurt the WH..why?
Damn straight.
I certainly hope Chafee isn't counting on that re-election bid. Even in the NorthEast I suspect he'll be hard pressed to find many willing to vote him back to washington.
Good! And fast.
The Dems, meanwhile, will use this delay to issue a casting call for witnesses against Bolton. You remember how it was with Arnold Schwarzenegger? What needs to happen here, probably won't---like the President nominating someone to a more critical position, so that the Dems have to divert their attention from this flank to that one.
Bolton is toast.
