He certainly did campaign for Voinovich.

We will not let this betrayal go unchallenged. We are strong supporters of the ORP, and we will let EVERYone know of our displeasure.

So what does he really want or what is he most afraid of losing?

If I was the leader of the Republican Party I would cut Voinovich off at the knees. No pork for him, none, nada, zilch. This is prologue to the SCOTUS justice battle and it is well near time to set an example. Ambassador to the UN is not that imporatant a post, Chief Justice of the SCOTUS is infinitely more important.

I would whip this guy into line with a stick, no carrots, or dump the Bolton nomination and make clear to Voinovich and anybody else that there are penalties for back stabbing, show boating sons of bitches.

Of course, I'm not the leader of the party so I expect to see a lot of groveling and nice nice with lots of pork for Ohioans.

What is your point? That he should know how these people will react once elected?

Please.

His primary goal was to be re-elected. he extended his coattails to help others reach re-election hoping we'd pick up enough to accomplish his agenda. He succeeded in his plan.

The reason they do this is because they see McCain successfully manage re-election while stabbing his party in the back. They see Frist unable or unwilling to discipline them. They see the base tolerate it at election day.

If Frist starts punishing them and we start voting them out, problem will be solved.

I received yet ANOTHER solicitation of funds from the RNC, in today's mail. The note I enclosed in the postage-paid envelope, for return to the sender, isn't fit to print in this space.

Suffice it to say, it was "salty", and I put it in the mailbox BEFORE I came to this thread. The gist was that they'll not get another penny, not another letter to the editor, nor another minute at the phone bank until they grow some huge nads, and call the Dims to account on judicial appointments, SS reform legislation, and a workable fix to our open border mess.

I know nobody that can make a difference will ever see my note, but it sure felt good venting at the worthless bastards.

I don't understand why no one here, as patriots, mentions the alleged offense, just revealed today....

That's the problem. When this kind of stuff comes out at the 11th hour, it always, always stinks. If it truly was that big a deal, and legitimate, we would have heard about it before today.

I understand your point, but the timing is probably what is leading most people to dismiss this.

Frist won't start punishing them. Another poster said we couldn't blame Bush; yes we can. Bush doesn't take retribution. Much of the GOP's problem is a lack of party discipline. If everybody can act as a free agent without fear of party discipline, we will lose most of the close ones. There simply must be a whip to go with the carrot.

From what I understand, he came in late.

I don't know why our side insists on gentlemanly behavior when the other side is pulling every dirty deal they can.

I don't understand why no one here, as patriots, mentions the alleged offense, just revealed today, that will be investigated--that Bolton made extraordinary efforts to un-redact top secret NSA documents to intimidate people whose intelligence reports he found inconvenient. It's as if no one cares if it's true or not.

We care and you can bet it will turn out not to be true.

I notice you proceed with commentary on the premise it is true.

We'll see. I'm willing to accept the truth as the facts are presented. Are you?

Move America Forward to Begin Ad Campaign in Ohio Beginning Thursday

(SACRAMENTO) – The organization strongly backing the nomination of John Bolton to serve as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Move America Forward (website: www.MoveAmericaForward.org), expressed outrage today that a Republican United States Senator would refuse to vote to confirm the President’s nominee in committee. As a result, Ohio U.S. Senator George Voinovich will be the target of radio ads criticizing Senator Voinovich for his obstructionist conduct in today’s Bolton confirmation hearings.

“Shame on Senator Voinovich. President Bush nominated a terrific man to serve as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations in John Bolton. Senator Voinovich indicated he was absent from the Bolton confirmation hearings, which explains his ignorance of Mr. Bolton’s qualifications to serve as a voice for America’s interests at the United Nations,” said Melanie Morgan, Co-Chair of Move America Forward.

“Senator Voinovich is in effect serving as an agent of the obstructionist Senators who have already smeared Bush appointees Condoleeza Rice (Secretary of State) and Alberto Gonzales (Attorney General). He has now empowered Democrat opponents of Bolton to conduct a fishing expedition to dig up every unsubstantiated charge against him as they frantically work to embarrass President Bush by once again smearing another one of his nominees,” Morgan said.

Move America Forward has already aired television commercials supporting Bolton’s nomination on national television networks.

“We are going to put our resources into putting the heat on Senator Voinovich until he sees the light. Standing up for American interests at the UN is urgent, and further delays only aid those who merrily wear the ‘Blame America First’ label,” said Morgan.

In addition to the ad campaign, Move America Forward has also put out an alert to its 200,000+ members to contact Senator Voinovich’s office via email, phone and FAX to register their outrage for his actions today.

A copy of the ad targeting Senator Voinovich will soon be uploaded to Move America Forward’s website: www.MoveAmericaForward.org
