KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A rabbi wearing a yarmulke and a man wearing swastikas got into a fight at Kansas City International Airport Sunday evening.
According to a police report, Rabbi David Fine, 36, of Overland Park, was in the KCI terminal when he commented to Steven T. Boswell, 30, of Olathe, about a large swastika logo on his shirt and his swastika necklace.
Fine told Boswell that he should be ashamed of himself, and Boswell responded by calling the rabbi inhuman, the police report stated.
The rabbi allegedly threw a cup of coffee in Boswell's face and punched him. Boswell told police he then repeatedly punched Fine in the head.
Both men were handcuffed and charged with disorderly conduct. They refused medical attention.
The responding officer said Fine had some small bumps on his head and Boswell had coffee stains on his clothing.
Both men are scheduled to appear in court on June 22.
"And you should be banned for being a moron who thinks there is any justification for violently attacking someone for wearing an offensive shirt..."
And if an Arab walked into your view wearing a shirt that stated in blood red "Death to America" would you jsut let him keep walking? Or would you do what any of us would do? Kick his butt back to the stoneage!
Doh! I just can't win. Sorry. I'm not sure where I made the claim that all Jews are pro-abortion. I certainly don't believe that. In fact, for religious Jews, I would assume they are all pro-life. As for the non-religious Jews, I would assume they are about the same as the general population. Some are pro-life, some are not. There seem to be plenty of Christians that are pro-abortion. Go figure.
As for claiming that no Jews are pro-abortion, you caught me red handed. It was obviously a debate technique. No fight intended, just making the point that, like all people, some Jews do have abortions.
Yes, Ariamne. It seems we had a simple misunderstanding. Sorry about that. Looks like we could both do better at drawing out the views of others.
Ahem. I am a stubborn woman!
Turn this around, if you will. A 36-year old 'NSM' confronts a 30-year old ADL member with a "Kill the Nazis" shirt on who just dropped off a friend from a ADL conference.
The ADL *IS* a no-foolin' threat to Nazis.
Do we defend the Nazi if he "defends" himself by throwing the first punch?
Of course not.
The *act* was wrong. The issue of who and why does not excuse the act no matter who the players are.
UNLESS, you want to make physical assaults a commonplace event as liberals and conservatives and every other opposition group goes at it in the public square.
We all know the Nazis are a-holes. The Rabbi accomplished nothing by his actions. My opinions of the Nazis have not wavered over this event. The Nazis are a-holes. Got that.
It is my opinion of the holy man that is suffering.
Agreed. Sorry I posted the ahem, I didn't see your post. No two Jews are alike, but I have to say, my mother's side of the family (the Jewish side) was far more quarrelsome than my father's side (the Gentiles)!
Let's end this with thanks to the one true God of both Jew and Gentile.
II was thinking about the stories of white on black or anti-gay hate crimes. I wouldn't be surprised if some ultra-liberal prosecutord reamed up something like: poor nazi being persecuted by Jewish man for his beliefs. Please keep in mind that my comment was sarcastic in nature.
How many people would love to hit these guy's?
Can people smack this kid?
What give the Rabi a free
pass and not others?
How do you feel looking at this guy?
But you can't!
Even though you would like to.
"Your freedom to swing your fist ends
where my nose begins."
One more for the road.
It's legal...
Pre-1960 smacking people around
was OK. Survival of the fittest.
Times have changed.
Were all supposed to get along.
The Rabbi approached the idiot. The Rabbi threw the coffee. The Rabbi threw the first punch.
Three times he could've walked away.
He was stalking the idiot and spoiling for a confrontation. Behaviors unbecoming a Rabbi.
Weere the tables reversed I'd be cheering on the Rabbi for kicking the snot out of - I'm paraphrasing a great quote here - a pimply faced loser who lives in his parent's basement.
The imagery is evocative isn't it?
(thanks) : )
Peter:
I appreciate your well reasoned thinking, but I have a little difference with your post. Lets just call it a point of view difference and agree to disagree. First, let me say this: I am of dual Christian/Jewish heritage, and my family is Jewish.
The nazis were preceeded in the 18th Century by a huge school of thought that was distinctly anti-semitic, this is true. This a well established fact, and you were correct in using it.
In fact, early nazism can trace its lineage back to this school of thought and the preceeding schools of thought in Europe that have caused pograms for over a thousand years. Whats the difference between the Goebbels inspired Nazi slander movies of the 1930's and the medievel Europeans slaughtering Jews because they did not die of the plague because they kept Kosher dietary laws?
Nazism is the current manifestation of a historical anti-Jewish animus which has been propagated by the European "elite", among others, for centuries. Another fact is Anti-Semitism is often used as a uniting factor for totalitarian movements, whether they have been successful or not in gaining power.
As for my experience, in the last few years, I have been on the other side of the Anti-Semtic aisle. My family has been experiencing the effects of the well publicized backlash against Jews, Zionists, etc, and I am literally fed up with it to my neck.
I can very easily see how a rabbi could punch this little Hitler youth in the snotbox. Because even good people can take only so much.
regards to you Peter, and thanks for your insight. It is appreciated immensely.
Wow. We all know how you feel now.
ping.

sorry, my postings are annoyingly popping up twice. Slow server and an impatient user make a bad combo.
"Of course there is no law against being an jackass by wearing a swastika. But if you do, be prepared to get jacked; we aren't going to quietly line up for the showers anymore."
My comment was in response to her suggestion that Jews won't tolerate such treatment. I, personally, should hope they wouldn't. But I'm a bit skeptical. Then, I made the point that Jews, and, of course, everyone else engages in the Abortion Holocaust.
ariamne's response is to have such comments censored. Perhaps a reflexive behavior from the past ariamne hasn't overcome. For future reference, simply try to understand the poster's comments or explain why you disagree. I doubt we are on opposing sides of this issue.

I've hit the "abuse" button only once, but I am not against someone alerting the Admin Mods if they feel it is necessary.
I have to say that if you and Arianne (sp?) are on the same side, I'd not have guessed it.
it was in southweatern Missouri...
