I really thought they would go with the Italian, but as Chris Wallace describes Ratzing's philosophy, he sounds like a very good choice.

I'm not too keen on the name Benedict, but then, I know nothing of Catholic Popes. I'll read up on his namesake so I won't think "Arnold" everytime I hear his name.

I'm having the same problem. Arnold put the brakes on any American children being named "Benedict" for a VERY long time.

And I think of the drink Benedictine! I guess we will all have to 'reeducate' ourselves.

I was glad to learn - from a Freeper - that St Benedict is the patron saint of Europe - from the days when civilization was preserved by the formation of monasteries, 1500 years ago.
