white smoke + tolling bells means a new pope. if we see smoke rising and no bells, it's a no vote.

Ok, ok, mea culpa.

I never meant to imply that I knew what the outcome of the second vote is/was/will be.

Jeesh, this is a confusing thread!

ha ha.

To clear things up.

We are all agreed that the first ballot of today did was not successful?

And they are now on the second ballot (of the day)?

Which we shall shortly find out about.

Yesterday there was one vote.
Black smoke = no new Pope.

Today we "can" have two more votes before Noon
and two more after the lunch break.

We are speculating that they're on vote #3 right now,
(the second vote of this morning) but since they're old
and the ritual is specific and time comsuming, I am
thinking they could still be on their first morning vote... however unlikely.

Yes you are correct.

For all we know, they could still be eating donuts and chatting.

Having taken no votes yet.

Only you assume the first vote of the day was unsuccessful, I'm saying wait it out Noon time in Rome, for white or black smoke, that will be your indicator. They aren't required to burn ballots after every vote, but they have to burn 2 times a day.

LOL!
No recounts -- everybody counts along as each vote is read and tallied.

My guess is, they're still tallying the votes from the first vote today.

They could elect Jean Francois Cheri the new Pontiff and take him off our hands. The downside is he'd change the Church to the point the early Church Fathers could no longer recognize it.

No, but I assume (and it's just an assumption) that they have already completed the first vote and are now on the second.

If my assumption is correct, that they are now on the second vote, then the first vote was unsuccessful since they would have burned the ballots/rung the bells by now.

But you are right, they could still be on the first vote. But if you are right and they are still on the first vote and that vote is not successful, then we won't see any smoke at in twenty minutes (as they would still have the second ballot).

They are in fact required to burn the ballots after a successful ballot (obviously) and since the first ballot was scheduled at two hours and forty minutes ago, I'm pretty sure that they've already completed it and it was unsuccessful.

One thing that will be cleared up for us.

If there is black smoke in nineteen minutes, than that means they have had two votes and are pretty much running on schedule.

Correct and I am dedicated to waiting the nineteen minutes.
Hopefully, they won't be tardy. :)

No the real MSM favorite is Bubba Clinton, did you read Rob Long's satire on NRO? It was a letter from Bubba Clinton to the College promoting his candidacy for the office of Supreme Pontiff.

Laugh out loud funny!

EWTN is going to Vatican right now!
