"Why can't they just photograph conservatives straight?!" blasted this week's TIME magazine covergirl Ann Coulter.
The bestselling author and controversialist slammed magazine editors for fronting a photo of her, she claims, which is so distorted "my own mother would not even recognize me!"
The photographer, Platon, appears to have used a wide "Fisheye" lense for the cover snap, stretching Coulter's legs and feet -- while shrinking the rest of her body.

Ann is attractive, but looks slightly anorexic. Most photographers emphasize the predominant qualities of their subjects. Ann happens to have very long legs, and the photographer emphasized this. No big deal.
The article is on the web here. If you need a login, bugmenot.com has some.
I have always HATED that picture, so smug and arrogant. Argghhh.
She'd have to eat about 200 Big Mac's before she even started to look like Tom Petty. I'd liken her more to Jack from "The Nightmare Before Christmas"
I've always thought of her more as a "Right-wing Thermonuclear Weapon" myself.
Violence is the first recourse of the competent, as in winning by superior firepower.
Don't knock them until you've had to get over a chain link fence fast.
That's the same thing I thought immediately on seeing the photo. I'm surprised they didn't superimpose a pointy black hat on her head and a broomstick propped up next to her too!
Exactly, there is nothing wrong with the photograph. As you said subjects generally have no idea how they are going to look after shot. It's probably nothing more than her being surprised at seeing herself
Go to the TIME cover archive and look at the the times the Hildabeast has been on it. Very flattering photography of he majesty, which should come as no surprise. 8 covers. Sycophants.

There's NOTHING wrong with that photo (except the Fugly shoes). Quitcherbitchin' Ann.
I think it is a rather interesting photo. I don't think it is bad at all, it makes her look feisty. And she did make the cover. I'd be more concerned about the article. Nothing wrong with her shoes either.
Coulter can't be this stupid.
Another thread showing Time's stupidity and a picture they apparently didn't look at but published because looked derogatory and it displayed her with a red x over her mouth..from the protest warriors..

It's a really stupid picture, but she should have seen it coming.
Horrible color. Horrible perspective. Horrible intent.
She's made to look like Skeletor - the living dead. The witchiness in the photo is a step up from the prevailing zombiness.
Hey kids, don't be afraid. Don't take her seriously. She's fictional and will disappear when you turn on the lights.
Wasn't it TIME that purposely doctored O.J. Simpson's mug shot in a racist move to make his seem "more black"?
I was in church once when we had a visiting preacher who was a black guy. The week OJ became more black, he was talking about the case over the pulpit during an illustration. He held up the Newsweek copy to show what he was talking about. Then he said "Not black enough for you?" and held up Time Magazine.
So Ann got treated to the same level of respect as that old waste of clean air, clean water and physical space, little billie clintoon!
So what's the beef?
After all, this IS Time magazine! The larger question is why would anyone spend money on this publication when they could just as easily throw the same amount of money down a wishing well, hide it beneath the maple tree in the backyard, put it in a time capsule to be opened in 2099, or buy a lottery ticket with it?
People....I'll never understand people.
It doesn't matter how much the stinking liberals screw up her picture-we all love her for her brain, right?..........Right? ;)
My biggest gripe with the photo is the lighting they used - her skin color is awful.
