Give state higher-ed funding directly to students in the form of vouchers and let them choose whether they want to attend a college that employs a Ward Churchill or a Phil Mitchell.
=====
We have been waiting for a long time for vouchers. Put loser liberal academia out of business, by empowering parents to send their kids to GOOD schools to be educated, not INDOCTRINATED. If the state governments will just do it, it could be a major upside for all levels of education. Show the libs they no longer have a rat-hole to hide in...

Mitchell believes it will take affirmative action to restore ideological balance. And he believes this can only be accomplished by adding the word "political" to campus diversity statements.

Do you know the specifics of this case? The article is very vague on just why the professor lost his job. I'm very interested in this topic but this is the first I've heard of this situation. Thanks.

Now THIS is affirmative action I could support!

Why? The best reason offered yet was by Robert Brandon, chairman of the philosophy department at Duke University, who explained that he tries "to hire the best, smartest people available. If, as John Stuart Mill said, stupid people are generally conservative, then there are lots of conservatives we will never hire." A pretty funny joke; even for an uptight lefty philosophy professor.
Perhaps it was supposed to be a joke, but it reveals a prevalent mindset. The Nihilists, leftists and dissembling cowards on most campuses work to replace themselves with like-minded nihilists, lefists and cowards. The them, "conservative" is a synomym for "stupid," which is defined as "does not agree with our twisted world view that shuns the moral and obsesses on the trivial." They're fooling noone.
18Like a madman who throws firebrands, arrows, and death,19Is the man who deceives his neighbor,And says, "I was only joking!" (Proverbs 26:18-19).

The False Promises of Adademic Freedom

If you want to get a real glimpse of the thought-tyranny of the academic Left, you should look at the case of Scott McConnell, who was recently expelled from Le Moyne College in Syracuse, N.Y., because his personal beliefs didn't fit within the school's indoctrination grid.
The Left, through an extraordinary process of self-deception, routinely congratulates itself for its enlightenment and open-mindedness, but the slightest scrutiny of its behavior in academia alone puts the lie to its claims. Sadly, the Left has even sunk its tentacles into Jesuit colleges like Le Moyne.
McConnell was pursuing a masters in education at Le Moyne. He achieved a 3.78 grade-point average for the fall semester and an "excellent" evaluation for his outside classroom work at a Syracuse elementary school when he made the mistake of relying on the university's promise to honor students' academic liberty and due process...
