because Ramsi Yousef is alleged to have been an Iraqi intelligence agent and the bombmaker of the 1993 WTC Bomb who worked with Yousef (I'm trying to recall if he was in fact Iraqi also) got safe haven from Saddam Hussein
we do know that Nichols' wife was Phillipino and he made frequent trips there, even the bios on Tim McVeigh mention Nichols making frequent trips to the Phillipines, interesting because McVeigh was always talking about he and Nichols having no money

Soldier of Fortune ran a story for a couple of issues several years ago saying there was some type of comspiracy and that McViegh and Nocols were not acting alone. Most people blew it off because it came from a "mercenary Magazine".
I've read that Nichols made as many as 20 trips to the Philippines. For a guy who was so broke, that's a lot of airfare.
