LOL! I got some tuna sashimi and saw the wasabi and thought it was guacamole and I took the quarter shaped piece and put it on the tuna and of course ate it.

This was years ago and I wasn't big on Sushi so you can imagine my surprise when I consumed that much Wasabi. It was bad.

I have eaten Sushi for two years and I have to say I don't like it. I force myself to eat it as tastes can be aqquired and I don't want to be down on Sushi but I just can't get into it.

If I had to pick Sushi I liked, it would be Yellowfin Tuna.

I like Dave's article but Sea Urchins aren't that bad. I have a cmmercial license to grab the spiny bastards and you have to work to get injured by an Urchin si I don't feel much sympathy.

That said, I would never eat the crap I am licensed to catch. Raw Sea Urchin gonads? I will pass. Top chefs have told me it tastes like ammonia and is an aqquired taste. I'll pass.

Arioch7 out!

Wasabi is very good.. I love the way it hits your head, then travels to the tip of your nose, and then your head blows up, and then it subsides...as for where parasites can get in..and you never know who the "distributor" is.

I Agree. :))..I 'm careful about that, too. I like to see it , as it is being prepared; color/smell/freshness are very important.

As another poster has put It: " There is no such thing as "too much wasabi". My wife and I dump it on so that you can feel your scalp shrink as it hits." ...really short and concise. :^)

> Liz, In the Deli Section ofour Costco -- you can find large trays of ready made Sushi...

Good call. I bought one. It sucked. I prefer the real deal. Been eating at sushi for years and know the best joints in Seattle.

Everybody whines about wasabi. Heh. I used to eat at this Vietnamese dive run by the standard "mom, pop, son, daughter, son, daughter" for years. They closed up shop a couple of years ago not needing the extra money anymore (kids off to college). I tell ya, I've never eaten so good. And could they make it HOT. Blowtorch and still tasted great. After that, all other "hot" food is just wimpy for me.

You don't lose the appreciation of great Yankee grub after "exotic" food. It's just more great variety. Greek, Indian, Philipino, Peruvian, you name it. Bring it on! Anybody know any "good food" that I haven't tried? Share your secrets!
