I would be interested in knowing why there was no attempt at all to get out of harms way. These are not 10 knot ships anymore,

a ship of this size and type does not change course at a moments notice.

Now a days they can change course, by circling around in about 5 minutes and many of todays modern cruise ships have 20 knot capability or more. the problem is they are extremely expensive to operate. Often times money and schedules are all that's important.
