As I remember it, plenty of blacks were very upset at the treatment Condi received at her confirmation hearings.

Any names?

A potential black POTUS would be completely different. The Dems know it, and they're scared.

Don't believe it. Besides, the GOP should not use that rationale to nominate a candidate for POTUS who has never served in elective office. Just because the Dems will nominate Hillary, doesn't mean that we have to come up with a female candidate as well. I will reiterate, Condi is not considered black by the community, just a puppet or a "house slave" as Belafonte called her and Powell.

The following senators voted against Rice: Akaka (D-HI) Bayh (D-IN) Boxer (D-CA) Byrd (D-WV) Dayton (D-MN) Durbin (D-IL) Harkin (D-IA) Jeffords (I-VT) Kennedy (D-MA) Kerry (D-MA) Lautenberg (D-NJ) Levin (D-MI) Reed (D-RI )

It is interesting to note that this was the greatest number of no votes for a Secstate nominee since Henry Clay. Hillary and Obama voted to confirm.

My argument is not about Condi per se. All I'm saying is that the first black nominee for POTUS from a major party will inspire millions of blacks to vote for the first time in their lives, regardless of which party the nominee represents. The same way that Tiger Woods inspired millions of blacks to watch golf on TV for the first time in their lives.

Sure, if Condi wins the nomination, the black libs will be out in force calling her every name in the book. It will cause a huge rift within the black community. But the idea of a potential black President will be too much for many blacks to resist.

20 years ago, no black filmmaker would have dared to use a line like "f**k Jesse Jackson" (from "Barbershop"). No black writer would have dared to write a hit piece on Jackson either. Stanley Crouch and Thomas Sowell were lone voices of black conservatism. Now they are joined by many others. The black conservative movement is growing, slowly but surely. Have a little faith.
