I can still remember the reports that went out to be on the lookout for two Middle Eastern men that night of the bombing and then it just disappeared off the radar screen.
It sure did. Remember they hauled in a ME guy...I remember the local media camped out in front of the guy's house. Apparently that individual was cleared. But it was just plain weird how anything to do with a ME connection to the bombing just vaporized--never any explanations...like none of it had ever happened. It was like a gag order had gone out. I've always suspected that the WH squelched it, that the WH could not risk any comparisons to Carter or to the first bombing of the WTC. I may be way off base w/ this, but I was suspicious then & I'm still suspicious.
Exactly. You've got it right. I am suddenly reminded of what Gail Sheehy said in her book about the Clintons. She wrote, "Bill Clinton wasn't serious!
He never WAS serious. Killery-the-Killster is the one who is serious. He was just having a ball (excuse the almost pun) in the Oval Office, with his Cuban cigars. Killery is the serious one. I'm sure that she moved quickly to squelch all indications that we had terrorists in our midst.
This was the same reason for which no administration has ever admitted to the reality of UFOs. It's the same thinking. The government doesn't want the American people to know that they are NOT being protected - that there are forces at work which they, the gov't, can't get a handle on; can't control; can't deal with. That's what the Clintons were thinking, when they let all of the blame fall upon McVeigh and Nichols. It was a "stop the bleeding NOW" strategy.............and "let the next administration deal with the implications and the realities of terrorism on American soil."
