And that is their right. Hopefully, such wishes would be stated in written, witnessed form, not established via too-long delayed hearsay by a person unfit to be the guardian of a disabled person.

And there is the rub...how does one decide when there is no written declaration, or a guadians motives may be suspect...

As I have said before, because this issue was so clouded, I did think that Terri should have been allowed to be with her parents, and allow them and the siblings to care for her...erring on the side of life, to me, is never wrong...

But, I was never one to jump on the bandwagon, and call Michael Shiavo a murderer, and call everyone who truly believed that Terri should be allowed to die, a 'Nazi'...that whole mode of behavior was unacceptable to me...its just my own way...

In my own situation, it will be my son who will be in charge of my end of life decisions...that is because my husband, who openly says he will do anything and everything to keep me alive, no matter what, will become too emotional, and refuse to honor my wishes...he has already admitted this, and so my son, has had to step in, and say he will act for me...my husband knows this, agrees to this, because he knows he will not be able to let me go when the time comes...

I, on the other hand, will honor my own husbands wishes, which are that he wishes anything and everything done for him...I may not agree with him, but I will honor his wishes...I wish he could do the same for me, but he has said it would just be too hard...so we have come to terms with each others wishes, and how things will play out when the time comes...
