I live in the Bible Belt and came home a little while ago from a party. I deliberately asked every single person there (over 40 people) what they thought about this matter.
With the exception of two Democrats, we are ALL staunch Republicans and we're all over 40 (for what that's worth). Everyone, to a person, thought Congress should stay out of this.
And several thought that, like me, an unintended consequence is that some conservatives have moved more to the middle.
Excuse me as I jump in... but THANK YOU for that survey. I really do think this may affect the next election. The saddest outcome, in the end.
Polls have shown that a sizable number say "the government should stay out of such family situations". They never complained about a judge being in it, just Congress and the President and Jeb, as if judges aren't "the government". Their ignorance is showing. Not speaking of you, as I know you know judges are also the government. Moving toward the center? Would that be more toward Democrats, or McCain, or Lincoln Chafee, or Hillary or just whom? I wonder about it. Any event, that political prospect won't change the views of those speaking from principle and from the heart on this matter.
I asked about twenty people what they thought about this matter and they all thought Michael was a scumbag.Politics had nothing to do with it.
