A Central Florida high school student bit off a large portion of a classmate's ear during a fight, according to police.
Orange County deputies said Jonathan Robles got into a fight with a 17-year-old classmate and bit his ear off in the parking lot of Timbercreek High School.
Jonattan Robles, 18, was charged Wednesday with aggravated battery, aggravated assault and possession of a weapon on school property. The ear of 17-year-old classmate David Roshak was reattached at a hospital.
The altercation began when two cars driven by friends of Roshak cut off Robles as he tried to turn into the entrance to Timber Creek High School. Roshak, who was a passenger in one of the cars, exchanged angry words with Robles.
Robles threatened Roshak and his friends with a black expandable baton after they got out of their cars, school resource officer Daniel Combs wrote in an incident report for the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
The friends told Robles to put away the baton, which he did, and fight Roshak without a weapon. Witness statements vary on who started the fight, but the teens ended up on the ground with Robles placing Roshak in a headlock, the report said.
Robles then bit about three-quarters of Roshak's left ear off, according to the report.
But Robles told a different story Thursday night. He said he feared for his life and that Roshak and his friends began hitting him without provocation after he returned the baton to the car.
"I was just trying to save my own life. They were threatening to kill me and bashing my head into the ground," Robles said. "It was a reaction to when they were threatening to kill me. I thought, 'I have to do something."'
A woman who answered the phone at Roshak's house said they didn't want to comment.

Kid already has attorney working on suing Tyson for influencing his behavior he has been victimized.
.....I remember way back when in junior high riding my bike home from school and passing some of the bloodiest fights in empty lots...both kids rolling around in the dirt with bloody mouths and swollen eyes fighting like their life depended on it, seeming oblivious to the 20 or 30 kids just standing around watching. What happened?...did someones pencil box get stolen?
Good thing the ear was re-attached. Someone might find it in their chilli at a fast food joint.
