Freeper Nolu Chan was banned for QUOTING Abraham Lincoln.
There's a thread locked now (almost 5,000) posts because one poster slings insults like confetti, then posts to another depite an admonition from JimRob himself to quit stalking GOPCapitalist. IIRC, GopCap was suspended for a day for protesting the stalking and quoting JR's admonition to the mods. The only thing I could surmise, is that the belligerent in question is a friend of a mod. Heck, I know of another who was suspended for a week simply for pointing out the implications of Lincoln's Lieber Code.
On the flip side, the mods banned Walt, a somewhat unSTABLE poster that despired Bush, loved Lincoln and Michael Moore.
And I love the ZOT threads, and Lazamataz's History Of FR. I honestly think that if FR had not been here then Al Gore would have been President in 2000.
I'll be the first to admit that this place has changed over the past 5 years, but it's Jim's site, and if he or the mods ban someone, it's their prerogative.

On this I think all will agree, my post already noted this fact as has others on this thread. Still the property rights does not immune anyone from public disapproval. They have edit rights but no rights to public opinion. It is a balancing act. Enough Free speech to be of public value with out so much anarchy that it looses that public value. You gave some good examples where the public image of FR is in danger of being useful and thereby visited by the public. Like I said it is their right to degrade the public value, but real friends admonish you when you are wrong. Sycophants only use you and pat you on the back hoping to pick your pocket.
The be frank the Threads are available elsewhere it is the posters and the comments that make FR interesting. I do not like seeing so many good folks treated so unfairly. But it hurts FR even more than the suspended Freepers. If the events on the Religious pages spread FR will be of no value to me what so ever.
