Excuse me PHILIP MORRIS..............YOU ARE THE PROBLEM.
Philip Morris should be fighting tax increases instead of pushing for more assinine legislation.
PM has actually been ENDORSING increased cigarette taxes throughout the country.
They are also pushing for legislation to force small tobacco companies to crank up their prices to contribute to th MSA.
Philip Morris and state legislautres pushing for higher taxes are KILLING our soldiers.
LOWER CIGARETTE TAXES.......but of course that is too simple a solution.Thank you Gabz!!!

"Oh! But to watch Phillip Morris's stupid quit smoking ads on TV which are being shoved down our throats, I thought they WANTED people to quit! But they are still selling cigarettes, aren't they? I hate that bunch. They talk out of both sides of their mouths."
They are required to run those ads by law. It was part of the big settlement. I can't remember exactly, but they are required to spend X amount of money on anti-smoking ads. Crazy, the government is making them advertize against themselves.

Crazy, the government is making them advertize against themselves. They brought it upon themselves.....PM was the head honcho in writing the MSA and they dragged the other companies along with them kicking and screaming.

I do wish the tube makers would come out with tubes to make 100's. I favor the taste from a longer one. There really is a difference.

The first tiem I heard about the AlQaeda connection and bootlegged cigs I didn't believe it and I don't believe it now.
It's just another tactic to demonise smokers.
As far as PM goes.it can go and pound sand. They MUST see the insanity in their actions.
Can you imagine an automobile manufacturere running public service ads saying that driving could be dangerous?
Amazing!

The supermatic II makes 100s - I know because that's what I smoke. Most of the tube companies are now making 100s also.

I think it was Hexbollah, not AlQaeda they caught with the cigarettes,.........but it is definitely true that bootlegging, in at least one case, was funding terrorism.
Which brings me to my conclusion that states and legislators are funding terrorism by cranking up cigarette taxes - those terrorists in turn are targetting our people.
That's right boys and girls your governors and elected state officials are helping terrorism. They don't want to hear it - but it is the ugly truth.

We got ours online; but unfortunately that outfit closed it's doors instead of turning over it's client lists to the tax collectors of the various states.
I'm sure SheLion has a link to where you can get one.

"We want to make sure that if a consumer is going into a store and paying $3, $4, $7, $8 a pack for a pack of our cigarettes, that they're getting the quality they've come to expect,"Referencing what?
The dollar for the cigarettes or the $2, $3, or $6 in taxes and how they are spent? ; )

When Maine bumped the tax up again in 2001, I threw my hands in the air and said that's it! That put my premiums at $45-$50 a carton. So, I took the advise of my FReeper friends and started rolling my own. I am not sorry and I haven't looked back.
And you will not believe the money you will save.

I am curious how much any folks who smoke would be willing to pay for a pound of tobacco, and if anyone would be willing to pay more for reasonably "natural" tobacco (that is, no chemicals used for any pesticides or herbicides, but the farmer does use normal chemical fertilizer.)
