Danish Queen Says Islam Poses Global Threat
We are being challenged by Islam these years - globally as well as locally, Queen Margrethe said. |
COPENHAGEN, April 15, 2005 (IslamOnline.net & News Agencies) Denmarks Queen Margrethe II claimed that Islam poses a global threat and urged government to show no tolerance toward the Muslim minority in the north European country, reported the Telegraph on Friday, April 15.
We have to show our opposition to Islam and we have to, at times, run the risk of having unflattering labels placed on us because there are some things for which we should display no tolerance, the queen said in an official biography published on Thursday, April 14.
The queen told her biographer Annelise Bistrup that Islam is posing a major challenge to the whole world which requires taking serious measures to face it.
We are being challenged by Islam these years - globally as well as locally.
It is a challenge we have to take seriously. We have let this issue float about for too long because we are tolerant and lazy.
Queen Margrethe, who turns 65 on Saturday, April 16, said the country could have handled this challenge a bit better, if we had realized what we were up against.
The monarch who has ascended the throne since 1972, wields no political power in the north European country but does occasionally give comments on political issues. Extremists Danish Muslims fear more restrictive steps to be taken by the government in future.
Queen Margrethe said she was feeling frightened from Muslim extremists who have dedicated their life only for religion, Reuters said.
There is also something frightening about such a totality which is also a part of Islam.
She stressed that certain response must be shown and sometimes one must run the risk of being labeled in a less flattering way. Because there are certain things with which one should not be tolerant.
The monarch said there is something impressive about people for whom religion imbues their existence, from dusk to dawn, from cradle to grave.
The Danish government announced last year plans to curb the activities of radical religious leaders, a measure seen as specifically targeting imams.
The rules oblige religious leaders to be financially self-sufficient, speak Danish and respect Western values or risk being declared persona non grata. Integration
The monarch said immigrants in the Nordic country should learn the Danish language in order to easily integrate into society.
She maintained it is wise to make demands on the language. We should not be content with living next to each other. We should rather live together.
Many newcomers do not learn Danish and unemployment rates among them is still much higher than among Danes, as are crime rates.
Immigrants make up about 8% of Denmark's 5.4 million -- about a third of them come from other EU countries or North America.
Among the immigrants is Margrethe's daughter-in-law, the very popular Crown Princess Mary, who is from Australia.
But Denmark has cracked down on migration in the past three years and the anti-immigrant Danish People's Party, an ally of the center-right government, has pushed through laws making it harder to bring in foreign spouses or qualify for asylum.
Danish Muslims - estimated at 170,000 or around 3 per cent of Denmark's 5.4 million - sounded the alarms that much more restrictive steps would be taken by the government in future.
Islam is Denmark's second largest religion after the Lutheran Protestant Church, which is actively followed by four-fifths of the country's population.
Islam isn't in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant. The Qur'an should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on earth --Omar Ahmed, Chairman of the Board of CAIR (Council of American Islamic Relations), San Ramon Valley Herald, July 1998
"It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was not founded by religionists, but by Christians, not on religions, but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For this very reason peoples of other faiths have been afforded asylum, prosperity, and freedom of worship here." -- Patrick Henry
"These fundamental objects of the Constitution are in perfect harmony with the revealed objects of the Christian religion. Union, justice, peace, the general welfare, and the blessings of civil and religious liberty, are the objects of Christianity, and always secured under its practical and beneficent reign. ... The state must rest upon the basis of religion, and it must preserve this basis, or itself must fall. ... The chief security and glory of the United states of America has been, is now and will forever be, the prevalence and domination of the Christian Faith." -- Benjamin Franklin Morris, 1864, notable American historian.
"America was born a Christian nation. America was born to exemplify that devotion to the elements of righteousness which are derived from the revelations of Holy Scripture." -- President Woodrow Wilson , 1913
"Our laws and our institutions must necessarily be based upon and embody the teachings of the redeemer of mankind. It is impossible that it should be otherwise; and in this sense and to this extent our civilization and our institutions are emphatically Christian." -- Justice Josiah Brewer, US Supreme Court Feb 29 1892, 143 US 457-458
Well, she's pretty much cleared her social calendar of any Euroweenie engagements this year.
As I see it, when you consider their treatment of women, Islam is simply a means for men to pick up sex slaves.
But the funny thing is, the feminists don't seem to mind it.
Hard to believe this is from Old Europe.
But then, what use would Her Majesty have for euroweenies? There must already be a court fool on payroll, maybe with a spare or two.
How dare someone of her rank and privilege to, TELL THE TRUTH!!!
Thank you, Your Majesty.
The Danes and the Dutch (and to some degree the British) get it. They're at least making moves in the right direction. Whether they're sweeping the tide or not will remain to be seen.
SOMETHING ROTTEN IN DENMARK:

"For years, Danes lauded multiculturalism and insisted they had no problem with the Muslim customs - until one day they found that they did. Some major issues:
Living on the dole: Third-world immigrants - most of them Muslims from countries such as Turkey, Somalia, Pakistan, Lebanon and Iraq - constitute 5 percent of the population but consume upwards of 40 percent of the welfare spending.
Engaging in crime: Muslims are only 4 percent of Denmark's 5.4 million people but make up a majority of the country's convicted rapists, an especially combustible issue given that practically all the female victims are non-Muslim. Similar, if lesser, disproportions are found in other crimes.
Self-imposed isolation: Over time, as Muslim immigrants increase in numbers, they wish less to mix with the indigenous population. A recent survey finds that only 5 percent of young Muslim immigrants would readily marry a Dane.
Importing unacceptable customs: Forced marriages - promising a newborn daughter in Denmark to a male cousin in the home country, then compelling her to marry him, sometimes on pain of death - are one problem. Another is threats to kill Muslims who convert out of Islam. One Kurdish convert to Christianity, who went public to explain why she had changed religion, felt the need to hide her face and conceal her identity, fearing for her life.
Fomenting anti-Semitism: Muslim violence threatens Denmark's approximately 6,000 Jews, who increasingly depend on police protection. Jewish parents were told by one school principal that she could not guarantee their children's safety and were advised to attend another institution. Anti-Israel marches have turned into anti-Jewish riots. One organization, Hizb-ut-Tahrir, openly calls on Muslims to "kill all Jews . . . wherever you find them."
Seeking Islamic law: Muslim leaders openly declare their goal of introducing Islamic law once Denmark's Muslim population grows large enough - a not-that-remote prospect. If present trends persist, one sociologist estimates, every third inhabitant of Denmark in 40 years will be Muslim."
After we get done in Iraq, it will be a better place, but we will still be infidels.
It's already the 16th in Denmark so here's a Happy Birthday shout out to Queen Margerethe II. 65 and looking great.
Hope I look as good at 65.
That's why the Dutch and the Danes supported us on Iraq. The pfennig's finally dropped.
Mark Steyn: Battered Westerner Syndrome

"Mr. Reimers, though, will be happy to know his view is echoed across the hemispheres. Five days before 9/11, the Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet reported that 65% of the country's rapes were committed by "non-Western" immigrants -- a category which, in Norway, is almost wholly Muslim. A professor at the University of Oslo explained that one reason for the disproportionate Muslim share of the rape market was that in their native lands "rape is scarcely punished" because it is generally believed that "it is women who are responsible for rape."
So Muslim immigrants to Norway should be made aware that things are a little different in Scandinavia? Not at all! Rather, the professor insisted, "Norwegian women must take their share of responsibility for these rapes" because their manner of dress would be regarded by Muslim men as inappropriate. "Norwegian women must realize that we live in a multicultural society and adapt themselves to it." Or to modify Queen Victoria's wedding-night advice to her daughter: Lie back and think of Yemen.
France? Well, I can't bring you any ethnic rape statistics from the Fifth Republic because the authorities go to great lengths not to keep any. But, even though the phenomenon of immigrant gang rape does not exist, there's already a word for it: the "tournante" -- or "take your turn." Last year, 11 Muslim men were arrested for enjoying a grand old tournante with a 14-year old girl in a cellar.
Denmark? "Three quarters of rapes are carried out by non-Danes," says Peter Skaarup, chairman of the People's Party, a member of the governing coalition."
