Students Vote to Ban Bibles 'To Be Fair to Other Faiths'

University students have voted to ban the Bible because they believe it could offend non-Christians.

Stirling University Students’ Association (SUSA) has voted to remove up to 6,000 copies of the Gideon Bible from more than 2,000 halls of residence rooms.

A motion to have them withdrawn was passed by 15-1 at a recent meeting of student council. Seven members abstained.

Citing the Scottish Executive’s One Scotland Many Cultures campaign, the students said representing one faith was not in the spirit of equality.

Al Wilson, president of the SUSA, said: “The one thing the students have come up with is that they do have a Gideon Bible in their rooms but they feel that’s not really fair on those who practise other faiths.

“It’s promoting one faith over others, so we’re trying to encourage the university to still retain the Bibles within the buildings themselves, but not necessarily in the rooms.”

A former chaplain at the university said it was wrong to withdraw any book from a place of study.

The Rev John Munro, of Kinross Parish Church, said: “I think there’s an agenda here, seemingly politically correct.

“But there’s actually a hostility towards faith by those who have none. This is repeating the worst errors which the Christian faith used to have – an intolerant attitude towards people of no faith.”

A spokeswoman for the university said it had not yet been approached by the students’ association to withdraw the Bibles from the rooms.

Moral Absolutes Ping.

(I keep trying to get up from my desk but the crazy God-hating and natural-law hating articles just don't stop today...)

Porn is legal and acceptable (even the worst, nastiest, most gruesome kind), VIRTUAL child pornography is allowed, every type of leftist indoctrination is ok, advocating treason, anarchy, and torture is fine and dandy. But a Bible? They must be banned.

Why not just allow other religions to voluntarily place other scriptures? If they want "fairness" that's all they need to do.

But no, what they REALLY want is any reference to God to be obliterated from their lives and sight. And everyone elses'.

Vile.

Let me know if you want on/off this pinglist.

Liberal/leftist/secularists are freaking out, staying awake at night, fretting and sweating that maybe somewhere, someone might be reading a holy book, uttering a prayer, or contemplating the existence of God.

Hmm...Scotland? Does this mean we will soon see Arlen Specter arguing that we should ban Bibles too?

I guess it would have been too difficult for these braindead "university students" to figure out that they could just remove the Bibles from the rooms of non-Christians. Let's not "offend" anyone. Well, I'll bet He is "offended." Fortunately for these pinheaded "students," He forgives everyone. Even morons.

Good grief! How does an American legally get rid of the "Mac" or "Mc" surname in their name? But then, I guess I should just be happy my name does not start with "Le".

I don't know the system over there, but I would think it would depend on whether the school was a government school or a private religious institution.

I had the opportunity to attend college later in life, after I attended the College of Hard Knocks. It amazed me how easily Student Government jumped at the chance to limit their fellow students (and their own) rights, rather than expand them. Smoking bans, speech codes--you name it, they banned it. I think it had to do with their political immaturity; in their zeal to accomplish something, anything, it was easier to take rights away than it was to expand them.

No,no, it's OK! I'm sure the students at the University of Teheran will reciprocate under the One Iran Many Cultures plan and remove all the Korans from dorm rooms so as not to offend infidels.

This is all targeted at the final result of destroying capitalism and redistributing wealth to those who truly deserve it. They've learned that revolution won't work and that wearing away at every core cultural strength probably will.

End stage liberalism in action. Scotland joins the continent of the Eloi - the bloodless, cowardly, hunted beings in HG Wells' "Time Machine" who wait to be devoured by the savage Morlocks.

Hard to believe that this is the land that gave birth to William Wallace, Rob Roy, Robert Bruce. It's now apparently inhabited by jellyfish. Soon to be swallowed by the Caliphate.

Student government has always been and exercise in futility. A tool the various school administrations use to have the students do the administration bidding while thinking the actions were self originated by students.

This is simply the fruits of the goals of "Liberalism", "Political Correctness", "Secular Humanism" etc.

Their real war is with the Bible and the morality, the faith and the culture that it produces.

Periodically the left stops pretending and acts openly in hatred of the Bible and the Christian west, without total sophistry. Here they just use a little sophistry by pretending that removal of the Bibles is due to their fairness and not their hatred of the Bible.
