I can also appreciate your impression that not everyone is fully aware of the magnitude of this threat and the frighteningly few reasonable options we have.
There are people a lot smarter than you and I who are wrecking their brains day and night trying to find a solution. It's a tightrope with very little room for error.
Bottom line is -- we can control and isolate any dangerous element within our society, but not if that is only the tip of an iceberg. Shutting down mosques and placing all Muslims under surveillance will do nothing to stop radical Islam in the world -- it will only make it more radical.
We need to build alliances, strengthen our values, pray, and look at root problems of this radicalization. If you think people know nothing of Islam, they know even less as to the complex mess that started all this.
But keep learning. We all are. Just realize that the world is not as simple as we would like it to be.
Great ideas...although I don't know that I will ever trust France or want to be aligned with them! But that's a different topic to save for another thread!
I like your idea on another post about praying for wisdom.
But keep learning. We all are. Just realize that the world is not as simple as we would like it to be.
Yes, I learned that on 9/11
Thank you.
Frankly as Americans and Christians is not our problem to solve problems with Islam. Islam has created its own situation by not modernizing and becoming a positive force in the world. Furthermore by attacking the US in a nasty and destructive way, they have brought attention to themselves, and like a child we will try to help you fix your problems.
But the bottom line is you need to do this yourselves. Islamic countries and cultures need to grow up and join the world. Misogyny, democratic principles, God given rights, education, modernization, these all need to be addressed internally, because Islam especially teaches that outside influence is not to be trusted.
So what's it going to be? Fix it yourselves, we'll spend treasure and lives to help, we have shown that, but not forever. Because if you don't fix it, next time we just might not be so nice.
