Appearance at deportation hearings is optional. That's the new SOP.

I knew it would go this way when earlier in the week, even after the article said all of them were of illegal status, that, upon having their hearings yesterday (which never occured of course), that an I.C.E. official was actually quoted as saying the 11 "might" be deported.

"Might?" Since when is deporting an optional issue when a violator of federal law is apprehended?

It is out of frikkin control.

Many people will raise holy hell in DC on this on 25 April, though.

If you or I violated federal law, "might" would not enter the equation. It is at least ostensible then, that illegal immigrants have more rights than you and I.
