The "BBs are Dead" gang reminds me of the gang that has been writing the obituary for the tank...for the last 40 years.

Good analogy. Many of today’s crowd seem to be of the “high tech for the sake of high tech” types.

The problem I see is the same for the lightly armored FCS and STRYKER platforms the Army is getting. They are trading armor for a net-centric, see first, shoot first position. That is fine as long as they are maneuvering and keeping out of direct fire range, but if they get cornered, they are going to be taken apart, one-by-one.

One of the key virtues of the Iowa-class is that they are tough and designed to take a hit and keep on fighting. The new platforms may have technology and fire power up the wahzoo, but they can't take a hit. They are too light.
