"Do they go to Hell? "
Nope!
God has already reserved them a seat in heaven.
Hence the 'chosen people' moniker!
Sometimes my refusal to agree with 'we are the true religion and everyone else is doomed' has gotten me in trouble with my church and others. But I feel that anyone, ANYONE who truly seeks the will of God and yearns for it (and that does not include bombings and beheadings) is headed up that good path and has God's favor and attention.
Yeah, I guess that makes sense.
But it brings up another question, if you're interested...
What about practicing and non-practicing Jews? Or even Orthadox or Reformed (Or whatever the proper terms are) Jews?
Just being born Jewish gets them all into Heaven equally?
(And to really throw a twist in here...What about converts??)
Well, not exactly. (I wish; I am an ethnic Jew.)
To quote Paul on this topic:
. . . For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel. Nor because they are his descendants are they all Abraham's children. On the contrary, It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned. In other words, it is not the natural children who are God's children, but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as Abraham's offspring . . .
To make a long theological point very short, Christians are adopted into the promise, and Jews, while still the Chosen People, don't necessarily get the benfit of the promise, post-Christ, unless they accept Christ just like everyone else.
